Our verdict on Convoy

Convoy is a webhook gateway for sending and receiving events through managed cloud or self-hosted deployments. It is designed for SaaS platforms, developer tools, and teams operating webhook infrastructure at scale. Core capabilities include incoming and outgoing delivery, automatic retries, delivery logs, event replay, payload signing, filtering, endpoint management, rate limiting, circuit breaking, and message-broker ingestion. Its open-source Community edition also gives teams a self-hosted starting point.

The plan structure separates basic gateway functionality from advanced operational controls. A 14-day Free trial includes Premium features and does not require a credit card. Community costs $0 forever and includes an open-source gateway, incoming and outgoing webhooks, automatic retries, message broker support, and community support. Premium costs $999 per month and adds Portal Links, JavaScript webhook transformation, OpenTelemetry export, role-based access control, advanced webhook retention, and circuit breaking. Enterprise adds dedicated support and SLA, deployment flexibility, custom contracts, solutions engineering, and SOC 2 and compliance support.

Convoy’s strongest fit is for teams that need detailed delivery visibility and control across webhook infrastructure. Logs include request, response, timing, and retry details, while event replay and bulk replay support operational recovery. HMAC payload signing with rolling secrets, fine-grained event and payload filtering, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry observability, and integrations with Amazon SQS, Apache Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, and HTTP extend its platform fit. Teams seeking a narrow, low-cost webhook sender may find the Premium starting price difficult to justify, while organizations needing full observability, self-hosting, or enterprise support have a clearer reason to choose Convoy.
