Our verdict on Bunnyshell
Bunnyshell is an Environments as a Service platform for development, staging, testing, and production workflows. It creates production-like environments from Git repositories and supports ephemeral environments for pull requests. Developers can run application stacks in the cloud while using local IDEs, synchronizing files, debugging remotely, and forwarding ports. It is suited to engineering teams that want an internal developer portal closely connected to remote workspaces, environment automation, and deployment workflows.
Its strongest area is the depth of its environment capabilities. Bunnyshell supports Docker Compose, Helm, Kubernetes manifests, Terraform, YAML environment definitions, persistent workspace virtual machines, SSH, devcontainers, JetBrains Gateway, and VS Code. Remote debugging is available for Node.js, PHP, and Java. Integrations with GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and DigitalOcean help it fit teams with varied source-control and cloud setups. Private and air-gapped Kubernetes cluster support adds flexibility for organizations with controlled infrastructure requirements.
Pricing is usage-based at the Startup level, beginning at $0.007 per active environment-minute, with a 14-day free trial. Startup includes preview environments, sandbox AI environments, modern CI/CD, and bring-your-own-cloud support. Scaleup adds DORA metrics, cloud costs reporting, and advanced RBAC, with a minimum of 20 users and custom pricing. Enterprise adds an audit log, a support SLA, and a dedicated Slack or Teams channel. Choose Bunnyshell when remote development and environment management are central to the workflow; teams primarily seeking catalog, ownership, documentation, and governance may prefer a more portal-focused product.
