Our verdict on Betakyte
Betakyte gives independent writers a place to publish newsletters, essays, short stories and books on the web. It suits writers releasing work in installments who want to mix free reading with paid access: previews and paywalls can be set by post or chapter, and paid reader memberships are available. Writers can schedule newsletter and chapter publishing, create a publication profile with a custom @handle, and organize a Word manuscript into a series. This mix makes Betakyte relevant to newsletter authors as well as writers publishing serialized or complete books.
The free plan includes one publication with paid subscriptions, basic analytics and 30 AI credits per month. Plus costs $20 per month and adds 500 AI credits, inline editing and co-writing, advanced analytics, one collaborator seat and the ability to charge for every publication. Pro is $100 per month, with 2,500 AI credits, whole-draft structural reviews, retention, cohort and churn analytics, and priority support. The Digital publishing house plan is $499 per month and includes 25 contributors and 5 editors. The Pro offer includes a 14-day free period; checkout determines whether a payment method is required. Betakyte takes 10% of subscription earnings before payment processing costs, a material consideration for writers weighing membership revenue.
The platform’s publishing and monetization tools are paired with analytics and AI writing assistance, but its listed platform is web and its only named integration is Stripe. Stripe is used for payouts, while support is by email except for the priority support listed on Pro. The Free plan is a sensible starting point for an author testing a single publication; Plus fits writers charging for multiple publications, and Pro is aimed at those who value deeper audience analytics and structural review. Writers who need a broader listed integration set or want to avoid the subscription revenue fee should compare alternatives before committing.
