Our verdict on Benedict Servicing LFN

Benedict Servicing LFN is a Windows desktop loan servicing platform for commercial lenders, multi-family lenders, housing finance agencies, insurance companies, and other institutions managing complex portfolios. It covers servicing from application through payoff and supports permanent commercial mortgages, multi-family and affordable housing, construction, participation and multi-investor loans, bridge and mezzanine loans, lines of credit, revolvers, ARM and variable-rate structures, deferred and capitalized interest, workouts, and modified loans. Deployment can use in-house servers or a cloud environment.

Its strongest case is functional depth. The platform combines escrow analysis with ACH, wire, and lockbox processing; payment processing in real-time or batch modes; allocation tracking; construction budgets, fundings, and draws; participation and investor allocation support; delinquency, late-charge, and default-interest management; and what-if restructuring with scheduled loan changes. Workflow rules, action queues, escalations, field-level audit trails, security controls, DataImporter mapping and validation, general ledger exports, flat file transfers, reporting web services, and third-party APIs extend its operational coverage. The 280+ built-in reports and report writer are useful for institutions with detailed reporting requirements.

Pricing is a significant consideration. The Base license is a $29,500 one-time perpetual license that includes all loan servicing functionality and three concurrent users. Additional concurrent users purchased initially cost $3,500 per user, while users added after the initial purchase cost $4,500 per user. There is no free plan. LFN suits commercial mortgage servicers that need specialized servicing controls and can standardize on Windows. Organizations seeking a lower-cost, multi-platform system or a borrower portal built directly into the desktop product should consider alternatives.
