Our verdict on atFAX

atFAX is a hosted fax service for organisations that still rely on fax for business communications. It removes the need to maintain traditional fax machines, analogue lines or fax servers by routing outbound faxes from email clients and multifunction devices, while delivering inbound faxes to email or nominated printers. Smart-device faxing, number porting, transmission confirmations and support for PDF, TIFF, JPEG and PostScript make it suited to offices that need fax access across several workflows.

Its strongest fit is with established office equipment. atFAX integrates with Microsoft Outlook and multifunction printers from Sharp, Canon, Fuji Xerox and Konica Minolta. Users can send faxes from supported MFPs, route received faxes to printers and search email-based archives. The service also provides API access, email archiving, user authentication and 256-bit AES SSL encryption. That combination gives organisations several ways to preserve existing fax processes while adding cloud delivery and mobile access.

The paid Fax number plan includes free inbound fax reception, a fax number and ongoing support. atFAX is a practical choice for organisations that need inbound and outbound faxing across email, office devices and smart mobile devices, especially where number porting or printer routing matters. It is less suitable for buyers seeking a broad communications platform or a large integration ecosystem beyond the listed email and MFP connections. Organisations evaluating it should also account for the dated presentation of the official site and FAQ when assessing fit for current procurement requirements.
