Our verdict on Astro Bot
Astro Bot is a single-player 3D action platformer for PS5. Players guide Astro across more than 50 planets in multiple galaxies to find his scattered crew, with platforming challenges, power-ups and encounters with PlayStation character-inspired bots. It is aimed at players who want a focused platform adventure rather than multiplayer play or a broad set of modes.
The published editions are straightforward: Standard Edition costs $59.99 one time and includes the base game. Digital Deluxe Edition costs $69.99 one time and adds cosmetic outfits and Dual Speeder colors, 10 PSN avatars, a digital soundtrack and an art gallery. The vendor says the game is not free and has no in-game purchases. The Deluxe tier is therefore for players who want those digital extras; the listed highlights do not describe additional gameplay content in that edition.
Its platforming focus is supported by power-ups for traversal and combat, while PS5 DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are supported. Additional downloadable levels are included at no extra cost. That makes the standard edition a fit for players primarily interested in the core solo adventure, with the Deluxe edition serving collectors of digital extras. Players looking for online co-op or a game available across multiple platforms should look elsewhere; Astro Bot is identified as a PS5 single-player experience.
