Our verdict on ArmDot

ArmDot is a .NET obfuscator and licensing tool for developers protecting applications against reverse engineering. It supports .NET Framework, .NET Core and Mono, and can protect Windows Forms, WPF and Xamarin applications. The feature set covers name and control-flow obfuscation, string hiding, code virtualization through a built-in virtual machine, and integrity checking. Licensing APIs and license-key controls extend its focus beyond code transformation, making it relevant to solo developers and small or mid-market teams that need both application protection and license management.

Build workflow is a notable fit for teams that automate .NET releases: ArmDot offers command-line and MSBuild integration, and runs on Windows, Linux and macOS. It can embed managed and unmanaged DLLs, data files and other assets, while map files support stack-trace deobfuscation. Those capabilities make it more than a narrowly focused renaming tool. Teams that do not use MSBuild or command-line build processes may get less value from its automation features, and buyers should assess how its protections fit their own application and release workflow.

The Single Developer License costs $499 one-time for one user; the Site Developer License costs $1,799 one-time and covers all users in a company. Both include email support and free 1-year upgrades. A 14-day test period is available, though demo-protected applications stop working after 7 days. There is no free plan, and support is limited to email. ArmDot is a reasonable fit for .NET teams seeking virtualization, integrity checks and licensing controls in one product; teams needing a free tier or another support channel should consider alternatives.
