Our verdict on Arista NG Firewall

Arista NG Firewall is a modular software-based network security platform for small and midsize businesses, distributed organizations and managed service providers. It combines stateful firewall controls with intrusion prevention, threat prevention, web and application filtering, SSL/TLS inspection, VPN connectivity, bandwidth management, reporting and policy controls. Deployment can use dedicated appliances, compatible hardware, virtual machines or public-cloud infrastructure, with web and Linux support.

The freemium pricing model gives teams a $0 NG Firewall Free plan with basic security and connectivity features. NG Firewall Complete costs $25 per month, while the annual option is $270 per year; both include the entire NG Firewall app library and ETM Dashboard. A 30-day free trial is also available. Pricing is banded by licensed device count, so buyers should size the subscription around their deployment rather than treat the entry price as a universal total.

Its strongest fit is for organizations that want one platform spanning perimeter controls, site-to-site VPN, user and group policies, WAN balancing, WAN failover, reporting and centralized management. Integrations with Microsoft Active Directory, RADIUS, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and VMware ESX/ESXi support mixed infrastructure. The main trade-off is that the free plan is intentionally narrow, while real deployments also need attention to device licensing and appliance-specific throughput. Choose Arista NG Firewall when broad network controls and flexible deployment matter; consider another option if pricing must be independent of device count or capacity planning.
