Our verdict on Altius Test Prep

Altius Test Prep offers MCAT preparation for students studying independently or through courses and mentoring programs. Its materials include full-length practice exams, a half-length diagnostic, mini-exams, video tutorials, and a study manual. The practice exams run through web-based testing software and include detailed analysis of results. It is a fit for candidates who want exam practice to anchor their preparation, with options to add instruction or individual support. Students seeking a broad, low-cost test-prep subscription may want to compare alternatives before buying.

The published practice-exam plans are one-time purchases: 1 Test costs $40, 5 Tests cost $169, and 10 Tests cost $299. Each package includes the corresponding number of full-length MCAT practice exams. Practice-exam materials are sold separately from classroom and mentoring programs, so candidates should consider those as distinct purchases rather than assume they are bundled with an exam package. The terms state that practice-test and self-study purchases have no trial period or refunds, making the package choice consequential.

The strongest case for Altius is the feedback loop around exam practice: analysis spans question types, topics, and subtopics, while graphical tracking shows performance trends and progress. Video tutorials cover MCAT topics and question types, and additional offerings include one-on-one mentoring, tutoring, and live classroom instruction. This combination suits candidates who will make active use of practice results and may benefit from coaching. Those who mainly need a standalone question bank, or who want trial access or refundable self-study purchases, should compare other options before committing.
