Our verdict on Alchemy

Alchemy brings blockchain infrastructure and developer tools together for teams building decentralized applications. Its hosted APIs provide RPC access to read blockchain state and submit transactions, while indexed data endpoints cover token, NFT, portfolio, transfer, and pricing information. Apps needing multi-chain access, data retrieval, event notifications, or wallet and account-abstraction APIs are a natural fit. The platform is cloud deployed, with a JavaScript SDK and a dashboard for API keys, apps, and usage analytics.

For pricing, the Free plan costs $0 per month and includes 30 million Compute Units per month, 25 requests per second, five apps, five webhooks, and access to mainnets and testnets. The Pay As You Go plan bills by Compute Unit: rates are $0.45 per million CUs up to 300 million monthly CUs and $0.40 per million CUs thereafter. Enterprise pricing is custom and includes dedicated support engineers and SLAs. Because usage is measured in Compute Units, teams should consider their expected API activity when comparing the free allowance with paid usage.

The breadth of the API surface is the main draw: WebSockets and webhooks support event streaming and notifications, while wallet and account-abstraction APIs include bundler and gas-management capabilities. Transaction simulation and rollup infrastructure based on Arbitrum Nitro (Orbit) add further infrastructure options. Ethers.js, viem, web3.js, Hardhat, and Foundry are listed integrations. Alchemy is a fit for teams prioritizing hosted infrastructure and data APIs; teams focused primarily on authoring and testing contracts may prefer a more contract-development-centered platform.
