Our verdict on Agrafa
Agrafa is an open-source, self-hosted monitoring application for small deployments, personal infrastructure, and side projects. It combines a web dashboard, API, and lightweight outbound host agent to track node availability, CPU, memory, and disk usage. HTTP and TCP service checks extend coverage beyond host health, while alert rules and email notifications provide basic response workflows. The platform runs on Linux and supports self-hosted Docker Compose deployment, with monitoring data kept on infrastructure the operator controls.
Its main strength is a focused set of host and service checks rather than a broad container operations suite. Users can define alerts for service and threshold conditions, then receive notifications by email. This makes Agrafa a practical fit for operators who want a compact monitoring stack for traditional hosts, personal infrastructure, or side projects. The lightweight agent and self-hosted model also suit deployments where the monitoring components should remain under local control.
Container-specific coverage is the key boundary. The published capabilities do not include container metrics, resource alerts, image monitoring, runtime events, or log collection. Container monitoring, including Docker and Podman container CPU, memory, restart counts, and status, is planned for a later release. Choose Agrafa when node availability, system resource metrics, HTTP checks, and TCP checks are the priority. Teams that need current container visibility, image tracking, runtime event monitoring, or centralized log collection should choose a product with those capabilities today.
