Our verdict on Active@ KillDisk
Active@ KillDisk is disk-wiping software for permanently erasing data from HDDs, SSDs, NVMe drives, USB devices, memory cards, RAID arrays and other storage media. It suits individual users, businesses, IT departments, recyclers, healthcare organizations, government users and enterprise operations that need to wipe physical disks, partitions, logical drives or unused disk space. The software runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and supports both storage drives and removable media.
Pricing is built around freeware and one-time licenses. The free plan supports personal use and produces completion records, while the Personal Professional plan costs $64.95 one-time, Personal Suite costs $79.95, and Personal Ultimate costs $119.95. Commercial options are Corporate Professional at $84.95, Corporate Suite at $109.95, and Corporate Ultimate at $149.95 one-time. Site Professional costs $1,999 and Site Suite costs $2,299 one-time, with unlimited use at one physical location, bootable erasure, verification and reporting. Paid editions add more than 25 data-sanitization standards, certificates, and command-line and batch-operation support.
Its strongest fit is breadth: Active@ KillDisk can create bootable CD, DVD, ISO and USB media, use ATA Secure Erase for SSD and NVMe storage, erase multiple disks in parallel, inspect sectors, and export PDF certificates or XML records. That combination supports both occasional personal wiping and repeatable commercial workflows. The main distinction to weigh is verification: freeware provides completion records but not post-erase verification, while paid editions document verification and certificates. Choose it when broad platform, drive and media coverage matter alongside perpetual pricing; choose an alternative when free post-erase verification is a requirement.
