Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves’ starter evolutions have not been revealed in the official information reviewed. The Pokémon Company has announced the first forms—Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua—and described their types, categories, abilities, and personalities. It has not confirmed their later forms, evolution names, secondary types, or evolution methods.
What is confirmed about the three starters?
The Pokémon Company calls Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua the games’ first partner Pokémon. Its announcement, dated February 27, 2026, provides information about these first forms only. Read the official announcement.
| Starter | Official category | Type | Ability | Official description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Browt | Bean Chick Pokémon | Grass | Overgrow | “This Pokémon runs about energetically while photosynthesizing using the leaves on its brow. It’s lively, but it can also be a bit clumsy.” |
| Pombon | Puppy Pokémon | Fire | Blaze | “The area below its throat glows faintly from the heat-generating organ within its lungs. This Pokémon is guileless and friendly.” |
| Gecqua | Water Gecko Pokémon | Water | Torrent | “This Pokémon launches springy balls of water from its tail. Gecqua is very intelligent and maneuvers shrewdly while putting on airs.” |
The descriptions and abilities above come from the publisher’s announcement; they do not establish what any starter becomes after evolving.
Have Browt, Pombon, or Gecqua’s evolutions been shown?
No. The official announcement and official Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves site reviewed here do not show or name any of the starters’ evolutions. They also do not specify later-stage types, levels, or other conditions for evolving. Those details remain unconfirmed in the official information reviewed.

What should be treated as speculation?
Any proposed evolution design, name, secondary typing, or evolution method is speculation unless The Pokémon Company confirms it. For example, a prediction that Browt becomes a particular kind of bird, Pombon develops into a certain kind of dog, or Gecqua gains another type is not a revealed fact. Fan art and theories may be fun to discuss, but they are not evidence of the games’ final designs.
When and where are the games coming out?
The Pokémon Company announced a simultaneous worldwide release for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo UK listing also identifies Nintendo Switch 2 and 2027. The official game site describes the titles as Switch 2 exclusives set across windswept islands and a vast ocean. A planned release window is not a specific launch date.
