The reported Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves starter evolutions are unverified. VICE reported on October 5, 2026, that the names and designs came from an anonymous 4chan post; the report says the post lacks trustworthy sourcing. The Pokémon Company has confirmed the three first partners, but its announcement does not confirm any evolution forms.
What the alleged leak claims
VICE says an anonymous 4chan post listed two evolutions for each starter and included purported Pokédex entries. The names, typings, descriptions, and images below are claims attributed to that post—not verified game information. VICE’s October 5, 2026 report says the post did not come from the TeraLeak files or the Pokémon leakers usually regarded as reliable.

| Pombon | Barklava | Bombulu — Fire/Fairy | VICE summarizes Bombulu as friendly, with a large heated mane that shelters smaller Pokémon in winter. |
| Browt | Ruffstrum | Kasquake — Grass/Ground | The post reportedly says Kasquake uses powerful headbutts and kicks and communicates with its herd through ground vibrations. |
| Gecqua | Flotokay | Cereguana — Water/Psychic | Cereguana is described as highly perceptive; legends supposedly call the mark on its forehead a third eye. |
These descriptions and evolutionary names have not been authenticated. VICE advises treating the post cautiously, and its report does not independently verify the images or claims.
What The Pokémon Company has confirmed
In its February 27, 2026 announcement, The Pokémon Company introduced Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua as the games’ first partners. It identifies Browt as the Grass-type Bean Chick Pokémon with Overgrow, Pombon as the Fire-type Puppy Pokémon with Blaze, and Gecqua as the Water-type Water Gecko Pokémon with Torrent. The announcement describes the revealed starters but provides no evolution names or later-stage typings.

The same announcement says the games are scheduled to release simultaneously worldwide in 2027, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. It describes an open world of windswept islands and a vast ocean, with regional ecosystems and natural forces that may block the player’s path. That is official setting and platform information; it neither confirms nor disproves the rumored evolution lines.

There is no confirmation in the official announcement or the VICE reporting reviewed here. The specific names—Barklava, Ruffstrum, Flotokay, Bombulu, Kasquake, and Cereguana—and the final-form typings come from an anonymous post with no strong sourcing identified by VICE. Until The Pokémon Company reveals them or reliable evidence emerges, treat them as rumors, not announced Pokémon.
