Is Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire coming to Switch?
As of the October 1 reports, there was no official announcement that either game was coming to Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. The claim that both would arrive on October 8 is a rumor, not a confirmed release date.
Game Rant reported that a Japanese fan account called pokesoku claimed the games would arrive on Switch on October 8. Gameranx also covered the date as an unannounced social-media claim and noted that no further release details were provided. Neither report identified a Nintendo or Pokémon announcement confirming the date.
Why the rumor resurfaced
On September 21, Pokémon’s Japanese information account, @poke_times, posted a video featuring footage from Ruby and Sapphire. Coverage said the clip renewed speculation about a Switch port, but the video was not accompanied by a release announcement. Its appearance does not establish that a Switch version is in development or scheduled to launch.

The original games and how to play them
Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire are Game Boy Advance games. Gameranx reports that they were first released in Japan in 2002 and internationally in 2003. An original Ruby or Sapphire Game Boy Advance cartridge is an option for playing the original games, but it is not a Switch edition. The cited reporting does not establish current cartridge prices, condition, or compatibility with any particular hardware.
