A reported Game Boy Advance (GBA) software category in Pokémon HOME has fans asking whether Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald might come to Nintendo Switch or connect to HOME. The observation is a community report, not an official roadmap. Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch versions of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen will connect to HOME beginning in October 2026; it has not announced Switch releases or HOME support for Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald.

What the reported GBA category shows—and what it does not

The discussion began with a Reddit post and screenshot in which a user reported seeing FireRed and LeafGreen listed under a GBA-software category in Pokémon HOME. That is evidence of what the poster says appeared in the interface, not confirmation from Nintendo that other GBA games are planned. See the community post.

Fans have reasoned that a category broad enough to include GBA games could eventually cover more than FireRed and LeafGreen. But a category label alone does not establish which games will be added, when they might arrive, whether they will be Switch releases, or how they would connect to HOME. Those possibilities remain speculation. Related community discussion.

This confirmation applies to those Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen. It does not announce Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald ports, nor does it confirm HOME compatibility for the original GBA releases of those Hoenn games.

What Nintendo says about other classic games

Nintendo Support’s official FireRed and LeafGreen FAQ answers the question of other possible titles with: “We have nothing to announce regarding any other potential titles.” The FAQ does not name an individual speaker. Read Nintendo Support’s FAQ.

Nintendo’s HOME update history lists Ver. 4.0.0 as released April 1, 2026, with compatibility for Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions among its changes. It does not list Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald as compatible titles. That update history is not a promise about future additions; it simply does not provide confirmation of the Hoenn games. Why Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are part of the theory

Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are GBA-era Pokémon games, so fans naturally wonder whether the newly discussed category could accommodate them as well. Players also speculate about how Pokémon might transfer between any future releases and HOME, and whether ports could help with Pokédex completion. No official announcement establishes a release plan, schedule, price, game selection or transfer behavior for these titles. Community discussion and additional discussion reflect those hypotheses, not confirmed features.

So, are Ruby and Sapphire on their way?

They could be, but the category report does not prove it. The confirmed news is limited to HOME support for the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen starting in October 2026. Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald remain plausible subjects for fan speculation, with no official release or compatibility announcement to date.
