To connect Pokémon GO to a Nintendo Switch, put Pokémon GO into its Nintendo Switch connection mode, then pair it from a supported game: Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! uses X > Y > Open Pokémon GO Settings; Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet use X > Poké Portal > Mystery Gift > Connect to Pokémon GO > Pair with a Pokémon GO account. Choose the route for what you want to do: Let’s Go supports GO Park transfers, Scarlet/Violet supports its documented connection features, and Pokémon HOME handles separate account-linked transfers.
Which Pokémon GO-to-Switch connection should you use?
There is no single destination for every Pokémon GO connection. The game or service you choose determines what the connection is for, what can be transferred, and whether a transfer can be undone. Decide where you want the Pokémon to end up before you begin: direct pairing with a Switch game and sending Pokémon through Pokémon HOME are different processes.
| Route | Purpose | Eligibility or limit | Can it return to Pokémon GO? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! | Send eligible Pokémon to GO Park in the Switch game | Kanto-discovered Pokémon and their Alolan variants; up to 50 selected at one time | No |
| Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet | Pair the games for supported connection and Postcard-related features | Features and transfer eligibility depend on the supported activity | Check the destination and feature before confirming |
| Pokémon HOME | Transfer Pokémon from GO to HOME, then use HOME with compatible games | Some Pokémon cannot transfer; a Pokémon can move only to games in which it appears | No, a Pokémon sent from GO to HOME cannot be returned to GO |
The first two are direct pairing routes between Pokémon GO and a Switch game. Pokémon HOME is a separate cloud-service route: it links accounts and transfers Pokémon using GO Transporter Energy, rather than pairing the phone to a game over Bluetooth. Pairing a game is not the same thing as moving every Pokémon into that game, and linking HOME does not bypass destination-game compatibility rules.
Choose Let’s Go if your goal is to bring eligible Pokémon from GO into GO Park. Choose Scarlet or Violet to use the supported connection features documented for those games, including Postcard-related features. Choose HOME if you want to send eligible Pokémon from GO to the cloud service and then use HOME with compatible games. If you already own a supported game, you do not need to buy another one just to try its pairing route.

How do I pair Pokémon GO with Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee!?
Start the connection in Pokémon GO, then initiate pairing in the Let’s Go game. Both sides need to be in their matching connection modes; opening Pokémon GO and the Switch game at the same time does not pair them automatically. Once paired, use GO Park in the Switch game to bring eligible Pokémon over.
- In Pokémon GO, open
Settings > Connected Devices and Services > Nintendo Switch > Connect to Nintendo Switch. Depending on the app version or the support page you are following, the path may appear asSettings > Nintendo Switch > Connect to Nintendo Switch. - Launch Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! on the Switch.
- Press
Xto open the in-game menu, then pressYto open Options. - Choose
Open Pokémon GO Settings. - Choose
Yeswhen asked to pair with a Pokémon GO account. Check the displayed Trainer ID before confirming so you connect the intended account. - To transfer Pokémon after pairing, go to the game’s GO Park, choose
Bring Pokémon, select a GO Park, and chooseStart Communication.
What can you send to Let’s Go?
The Let’s Go route accepts Pokémon originally discovered in Kanto and their Alolan variants. Pokémon Support states that you can select up to 50 Pokémon at a time. That is the maximum selection for a transfer batch, not permission to send any species from Pokémon GO: eligibility is still limited by the Kanto and Alolan rule.
A Pokémon sent to Let’s Go cannot be transferred back into Pokémon GO, so check the selected Pokémon and destination before starting communication. If you have a particular Pokémon in mind, confirm that it meets the route’s eligibility rule before setting up a batch.
Pairing and transferring are separate actions: connecting the accounts does not itself move Pokémon. You start the transfer from GO Park in Let’s Go, where you select the destination park and begin communication. The GO Park menu is therefore where you carry out the transfer after the account connection has been made.
How do I pair Pokémon GO with Pokémon Scarlet or Violet?
Put Pokémon GO into Switch connection mode, then pair from the Mystery Gift menu in Scarlet or Violet. Confirm the Pokémon GO Trainer Name shown on the Switch to make sure it is the intended account. The supported route is the same in either game.
- In Pokémon GO, open the Nintendo Switch connection settings and choose
Connect to Nintendo Switch. The menu may be nested underConnected Devices and Services. - Launch Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.
- Press
Xto open the in-game menu. - Select
Poké Portal, thenMystery Gift. - Select
Connect to Pokémon GO. - Select
Pair with a Pokémon GO account. - When the Switch displays the Pokémon GO Trainer Name, confirm the pairing if it is correct.
After pairing, the Switch can appear among Pokémon GO’s available devices for supported transfers or Postcard-related features. Pairing does not mean every Pokémon can move freely between the games; eligibility depends on the specific feature and destination. Treat the pairing as enabling supported interactions, not as an instruction to transfer all Pokémon or as a guarantee that every species is available in Scarlet or Violet.
If you do not see the expected option, make sure you are following the Scarlet/Violet sequence through Poké Portal and Mystery Gift, rather than the Let’s Go Options menu. You also need to reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos before the connection becomes available in Scarlet or Violet.

How does Pokémon HOME work, and how is it different from direct pairing?
Pokémon HOME connects Pokémon GO and HOME through the same Nintendo Account and transfers Pokémon using GO Transporter Energy. It does not use the direct Bluetooth pairing flow for Let’s Go or Scarlet/Violet. This route has two stages: send an eligible Pokémon from GO to HOME, then receive it in HOME. From there, HOME can be used with compatible Switch games, subject to each game’s restrictions.
- Link the mobile Pokémon HOME app to a Nintendo Account.
- In Pokémon GO, open
Settings > Pokémon HOMEand sign in with that same Nintendo Account. Using a different account would not establish the matching account link. - Choose
Send Pokémonand review the Pokémon selected for transfer before confirming. - Receive the transferred Pokémon in the mobile HOME app, or in the Nintendo Switch version of HOME after linking it to the same Nintendo Account.
Each transfer uses a set amount of GO Transporter Energy. Energy recharges over time, and PokéCoins can be used to recharge it immediately. The amount of Energy required depends on the transfer; no single universal cost applies to every Pokémon. If you do not want to use PokéCoins to recharge, wait for the energy to replenish before sending another transfer.
Pokémon sent from GO to HOME cannot be returned to Pokémon GO, and some special Pokémon are ineligible to transfer. Review the selected Pokémon and intended destination before confirming. Receiving a Pokémon in HOME is separate from moving it onward into a Switch game.
Can Pokémon HOME move a Pokémon into any Switch game?
No. Nintendo’s compatibility guidance lists Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Violet, and other compatible Switch games, but game-specific restrictions apply. A Pokémon can move only into a game in which that Pokémon appears, and some moves into newer titles are one-way. Check the destination game’s compatibility and restrictions before sending a Pokémon onward from HOME.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThis means HOME is not a universal bridge that makes every Pokémon available in every game. A Pokémon may be accepted into HOME but still not be usable in the particular game you choose. Check both steps—the initial GO-to-HOME transfer and the HOME-to-game destination—before committing to a one-way transfer.
What do you need before pairing?
In addition to Pokémon GO on a smartphone and a supported Switch game, you must reach the required point in the Switch game before its connection option becomes available. Reaching the milestone matters even if the phone is set up correctly, so check the game’s story progress before troubleshooting Bluetooth.
- Let’s Go: reach Fuchsia City in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!.
- Scarlet or Violet: reach the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos.
- For direct pairing: Bluetooth must be available on the smartphone. Nintendo identifies the connection as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- For HOME transfers: link Pokémon GO and HOME to the same Nintendo Account. The transfer route does not require Nintendo Switch Online or Pokémon HOME Premium.
Nintendo Support states: “Pokémon GO connects to the Nintendo Switch via Low Energy (BLE) technology. The Poké Ball Plus is not used to connect them.” The Poké Ball Plus is therefore not a fix or a required connection accessory. If the pairing is failing, focus on the phone’s Bluetooth connection, the game and app updates, and the setup steps rather than buying or connecting a Poké Ball Plus.

The routes have different requirements: direct game pairing uses the phone’s BLE connection and the appropriate in-game menu, while HOME uses a shared Nintendo Account and GO Transporter Energy. Neither Nintendo Switch Online nor HOME Premium is needed for the basic GO-to-HOME transfer operation.
Why won’t Pokémon GO find my Switch?
First check that both sides are in their matching connection modes and that you have reached the required story point in the Switch game. If the pairing still fails or is unstable, work through Nintendo’s troubleshooting checks. After each change, try the pairing flow again so you can tell whether that step resolved the issue.
- Update the Switch and game. Install available Nintendo Switch system and Pokémon game updates. An old game or system version can prevent a connection flow from working as expected.
- Check the phone’s Bluetooth. Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on the smartphone. Direct GO-to-Switch pairing uses Bluetooth Low Energy.
- Restart both devices. Restart the Switch and the smartphone, then put both games back into their connection modes and try again.
- Check Airplane Mode. Confirm Airplane Mode is off on the Switch.
- Reduce Bluetooth conflicts. Turn off or unpair other Bluetooth devices connected to the smartphone, then retry. Other active connections can complicate pairing.
- Update or reinstall Pokémon GO. Use the current app-store release rather than relying on an older numeric version requirement; app and menu versions can change. If updating does not help, reinstall the app and try again.
- Try another smartphone if available. If another phone pairs successfully, the issue is more likely related to the original phone’s settings.
If the Switch does not show the expected pairing option, confirm the route first: the Let’s Go option is in Options, while Scarlet/Violet uses Poké Portal and Mystery Gift. Opening both games alone does not start pairing; each side must enter its connection mode. Also check that you have reached Fuchsia City for Let’s Go or the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos for Scarlet/Violet.
Do not treat an old numeric minimum app version as a current recommendation. Follow the update and troubleshooting steps with the current app-store release, since app versions and menu labels can change. If one phone continues to fail after the basic checks, testing another smartphone helps distinguish a phone-specific settings problem from an issue with the Switch or game setup.
Does this work with Nintendo Switch 2?
Nintendo’s official connection guidance describes pairing with Nintendo Switch games, but does not establish a separate Pokémon GO connection procedure or a specific compatibility guarantee for Nintendo Switch 2. If you are using Switch 2, first verify that the supported game you intend to use is playable on your system. Then follow that game’s documented pairing flow; do not assume the console itself changes the account-linking, eligibility, or transfer rules.

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online or Pokémon HOME Premium?
No subscription is required for the basic Pokémon GO-to-Pokémon HOME transfer operation. Nintendo Switch Online and Pokémon HOME Premium are not prerequisites for sending Pokémon from GO to HOME; the required account link is to the same Nintendo Account. GO Transporter Energy is a separate transfer resource: it recharges over time, and PokéCoins can be used to recharge it immediately.

That answer concerns the basic GO-to-HOME transfer operation. It does not remove the other restrictions: some Pokémon cannot be sent, transfers from GO to HOME cannot be reversed, and moving a Pokémon from HOME into a particular game depends on that game’s compatibility.
What should you check before transferring a Pokémon?
Confirm the destination and direction of travel before you approve a transfer. GO-to-Let’s Go and GO-to-HOME transfers are not reversible back into Pokémon GO, and the eligible Pokémon differ by route. A connection alone does not move Pokémon, but once you initiate a transfer, the destination and route matter.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- For GO Park, verify that the Pokémon is Kanto-discovered or an eligible Alolan variant, that no more than 50 are selected in the batch, and that the correct GO Park is selected.
- For HOME, check that the Pokémon is eligible to leave GO, that the intended Nintendo Account is linked, and that you are prepared to spend the required GO Transporter Energy.
- For transfers onward from HOME, confirm that the receiving game supports that Pokémon; compatibility is game-specific, and some moves into newer titles are one-way.
- For any direct pairing prompt, check the Trainer ID or Trainer Name displayed before confirming the account.
- Do not expect a Poké Ball Plus to establish the connection; Nintendo says it is not used to connect Pokémon GO to the Switch.
If your goal is simply to connect accounts for a supported Scarlet/Violet feature, complete the pairing steps and confirm the account name. If your goal is to move a Pokémon, separately check the transfer route and eligibility before initiating it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use one Pokémon GO account with more than one supported Switch game?
The documented pairing flows are initiated separately from each supported game. Pokémon Support’s published instructions do not specify a limit on the number of game pairings for one Pokémon GO account, so follow the in-game pairing prompt and verify the displayed Trainer ID or Trainer Name each time.
Does pairing Pokémon GO with Scarlet or Violet automatically move Pokémon into the game?
No. Pairing enables supported connection features, but it is not itself a transfer command. The documented connection supports features including Postcard-related activity; it does not mean every Pokémon GO species can be transferred directly into Scarlet or Violet.
Can I use Pokémon HOME on my phone without the Switch version?
Yes. The transferred Pokémon can be received in the mobile Pokémon HOME app. The Switch version is an additional destination for receiving and managing Pokémon when it is linked to the same Nintendo Account.

Why is Connect to Nintendo Switch missing from Pokémon GO Settings?
Check that Pokémon GO is updated and look under Connected Devices and Services, since menu wording can differ between app versions and support documentation. Also make sure the Switch game has reached its required milestone: Fuchsia City in Let’s Go or the first Pokémon Center in Los Platos in Scarlet/Violet.
Can I send Pokémon back from Let’s Go or HOME to Pokémon GO?
No. Pokémon sent from Pokémon GO to Let’s Go cannot be transferred back to GO, and Pokémon sent from GO to HOME cannot be returned to GO. Check the destination and eligibility before confirming.
How many Pokémon can I transfer to Let’s Go at once?
Pokémon Support says you can select up to 50 Pokémon at a time for the Let’s Go route. Eligible Pokémon must be originally discovered in Kanto or be their Alolan variants.

Does a Pokémon HOME transfer require Nintendo Switch Online or HOME Premium?
No. Neither Nintendo Switch Online nor Pokémon HOME Premium is required for the basic transfer from GO to HOME. You do need to link Pokémon GO and HOME to the same Nintendo Account.
Do I need a Poké Ball Plus to connect Pokémon GO to the Switch?
No. Nintendo Support says Pokémon GO connects to the Switch using Bluetooth Low Energy and that the Poké Ball Plus is not used to connect them.
Can I transfer every Pokémon from HOME to Scarlet, Violet, or another Switch game?
No. A Pokémon can move only to games in which it appears, and each compatible game has its own restrictions. Check the destination’s compatibility before transferring onward from HOME.
Does Pokémon GO connect to Nintendo Switch 2 differently?
Nintendo’s published connection guidance does not establish a separate Switch 2 pairing process or a specific compatibility guarantee. Verify that the supported game is playable on your system, then follow that game’s documented pairing steps.
The Bottom Line
Use Let’s Go for eligible GO Park transfers, Scarlet or Violet for their supported connection features, and Pokémon HOME for a separate account-linked transfer route. Put both sides into their matching pairing modes, meet the game’s story-progress requirement, and confirm the account and destination before sending anything: transfers from GO to Let’s Go or HOME cannot be returned to Pokémon GO.
