The POCO X8 Pro Max is the better fit if you want a larger display and, in its global specification, a higher-capacity battery. The iQOO 15R is the more compact option, advertises a higher refresh rate, and has a higher-resolution selfie camera. Neither specification sheet establishes which phone is faster overall or takes better photos; your best choice depends on size, local battery variant, price and the features you value.

Which phone is a better fit for your priorities?
Choose the POCO for a larger screen and higher listed battery capacity
At 6.83 inches, the POCO has the larger stated display. Its global specification lists an 8,500mAh typical battery, but that figure should not be assumed for every country: TechRadar’s UK review describes an 8,500mAh tested model and notes that some regions receive a 9,000mAh model. Confirm the capacity of the local version before buying. Battery capacity alone does not establish how long a phone lasts; usage, settings and network conditions affect runtime.
POCO lists 100W wired charging and up to 27W reverse wired charging. Its specifications note that adapter availability and some connectivity features vary by market, so check what is included with the local SKU and whether your charger supports the relevant charging protocol.

Choose the iQOO for a more compact phone and its 144Hz display specification
The iQOO is the more compact choice in the comparison, with a smaller stated display measurement and lower listed weights than the POCO. That can matter if you prefer a phone that is easier to handle, but try the specific color and finish if weight and feel are decisive.
iQOO advertises a 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED panel. However, 91mobiles’ comparison says the 144Hz mode is available only in certain supported games and that normal use runs at 120Hz. The POCO’s official global specification lists up to 120Hz. The headline refresh-rate number therefore does not mean every app or game will run at 144Hz.

Do not pick a performance winner from the chip names alone
The POCO lists MediaTek Dimensity 9500s and the iQOO lists Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Those are the manufacturers’ stated chipset models, not proof that one phone is faster in everyday use, games or sustained workloads. The 91mobiles head-to-head article’s author reported experience reviewing the iQOO but said a full POCO review was still pending at publication. The available comparison is not a controlled, same-condition test of both phones, so a definitive overall performance winner is not established.
Camera comparison: resolution is not the same as photo quality
Both phones list a 50MP main rear camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP wide-angle camera. The iQOO’s main camera is identified as a Sony LYT-700V; POCO identifies its main sensor as Light Fusion 600. Those names and megapixel counts do not by themselves show which phone produces better photos, especially across different lighting and processing conditions.

For selfies, iQOO lists a 32MP front camera, compared with POCO’s 20MP. That gives the iQOO the higher front-camera resolution on paper, but resolution alone cannot establish detail, color, low-light results or video quality. Choose based on comparable sample photos and video tests if camera output is a deciding factor.

Software support
iQOO India advertises four generations of Android version upgrades and six years of security updates for the 15R. This is the manufacturer’s stated support promise, not an independently verified record of updates delivered. The 91mobiles comparison attributes a six-year security-update promise to POCO, but the cited POCO global specifications page does not confirm it; check the support policy for your region before treating that duration as an official commitment.

Memory and storage
POCO’s global specifications list 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB storage. The iQOO India page lists LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage; the India configurations reported by 91mobiles include 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB. Confirm the exact configuration available in your country rather than assuming the India lineup applies elsewhere.
Water and dust protection
iQOO’s India product page promotes IP68/IP69 protection. The POCO global specification page cited here does not establish a corresponding rating, so this comparison cannot support a like-for-like durability verdict. Check the local model’s official rating and warranty terms if water or dust resistance matters.

Quick Recap
Verdict: match the phone to the trade-off you want
- Pick the POCO X8 Pro Max if you want a larger 6.83-inch display and the higher official global typical battery-capacity figure, after confirming which battery variant is sold locally.
- Pick the iQOO 15R if you prefer the more compact option, want its advertised 144Hz panel specification, value its higher-resolution front camera, or prioritize the support promise stated by iQOO India.
- For gaming, speed or camera quality, look for independent tests comparing the actual regional models under matching conditions; the specifications and available head-to-head coverage do not establish a universal winner.
