Choose the POCO F9 Pro if its local price is close to the Samsung Galaxy S26 and your priorities are a high-refresh-rate display, high-resolution camera hardware, a large battery and fast charging. Choose the Galaxy S26 if Samsung’s documented seven-year security-update commitment matters more. There is no universal price match: compare the same storage capacity in your market before deciding, because the POCO’s official specification page does not list a price.
Are the POCO F9 Pro and Galaxy S26 similarly priced?
That depends on where you shop. Samsung’s US store showed the unlocked Galaxy S26 with 256GB at $899.99, reduced from $999.99, when checked on October 7, 2026; its 512GB option was listed at $1,099.99. These are time-sensitive US store prices, not a global price guide. Check Samsung’s US Galaxy S26 listing for current pricing.
In the UK, Samsung announced a £879 launch RRP for the Galaxy S26 256GB. That is a launch price, not a current quote, and should not be compared directly with US retail pricing. Samsung’s UK announcement gives the launch RRP.
Xiaomi’s official POCO F9 Pro specifications do not state a price. Check the current local price for the POCO and compare it with the Galaxy S26 at the same storage tier; the phones are only “similarly priced” if those actual prices are close. Which phone suits your priorities?
Choose the POCO F9 Pro for its specified hardware strengths
The published numbers make the POCO the paper-spec choice for display refresh rate, camera resolution, battery capacity and charging speed. That does not establish that it takes better photos, lasts longer in real use, charges faster in every condition, or performs better in games. Xiaomi’s specifications describe hardware; the cited material does not provide independent comparative tests.
Its 200MP main, 50MP telephoto and 8MP ultra-wide cameras offer a clearly specified mix of focal roles. But megapixels alone do not tell you how images compare in low light, motion, video, color processing or reliability. If camera quality is your deciding factor, look for independent sample photos and video from the exact regional model rather than treating resolution as a verdict.

Choose the Galaxy S26 if long-term security support is decisive
Samsung states that the Galaxy S26 series receives seven years of security updates. That is a defined support commitment in Samsung’s announcement; the cited POCO specification page does not establish an equivalent commitment. If you expect to keep a phone for years, that documented difference may matter more than a higher refresh-rate or megapixel figure.
Check regional details before buying either one
Confirm that the exact model sold where you live supports your carrier’s bands and services, including eSIM if you need it. Also compare local warranty terms, retailer stock, included accessories and the final price for the storage capacity you want. Xiaomi notes that availability and some capabilities vary by country or region, and that local network and package details may differ. Review Xiaomi’s regional notes.

How to make the buying decision
- Match market and storage. Find current local prices for the POCO F9 Pro and Galaxy S26 with the same storage capacity. Do not use Samsung’s US price as a comparison against a POCO price from another country.
- Prioritize the trade-off you care about. Favor the POCO on the strength of its listed display, camera, battery and charging specifications; favor Samsung if its seven-year security-update commitment is more important to you.
- Verify the exact regional model. Check carrier compatibility, eSIM availability, warranty and included accessories with the local seller before paying.
- Use real-world evidence for camera and endurance decisions. The manufacturer specifications do not answer how the phones compare in photos, video, battery life, charging time or sustained gaming.
What the evidence does not establish
The available official information does not establish one best Samsung Galaxy alternative for every country, an exact POCO price gap, or comparative camera, gaming, battery-endurance or software-quality results. Nor does a larger stated battery or higher charging wattage by itself prove longer daily use or a shorter charge in practice. Treat the hardware figures as manufacturer specifications and make the final call using local pricing and evidence for the specific qualities you value.
One practical caveat on the POCO: its IP68 rating is tied to specified laboratory conditions, including static freshwater up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. Xiaomi says protection is not assured outside those conditions and can deteriorate through wear or damage. It is not accurate to call the phone simply “waterproof.” See Xiaomi’s IP rating qualification.
