Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If you mean a color-screen PocketBook, the comparable model is the PocketBook Verta Color, not the monochrome PocketBook Verta. Verta Color and Kobo Clara Colour both use 6-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 displays, with the same manufacturer-listed pixel densities. The clearest specification differences are weight and water protection: PocketBook lists Verta Color at 140 g with IPX4, while Kobo lists Clara Colour at 174 g with IPX8 protection for up to 60 minutes in 2 metres of water.
That makes Verta Color the lighter option on published specifications, and Clara Colour the better-documented choice for reading around water. Availability and prices are market-specific, so check current local listings before choosing.
First, which PocketBook Verta do you mean?
PocketBook uses two distinct product names. The PocketBook Verta has a 6-inch monochrome E Ink Carta 1300 display. The PocketBook Verta Color has a 6-inch color E Ink Kaleido 3 display and is the relevant comparison with the Kobo Clara Colour.
If your priority is a color screen, compare Verta Color with Clara Colour. If you meant the plain Verta, it is not a color-screen alternative.

How do the screens compare?
Both use 6-inch Kaleido 3 color displays
PocketBook and Kobo list 300 PPI for grayscale and 150 PPI for color content on their color models. Those specifications make the screen technology and stated pixel densities a close match on paper; they do not establish that one looks brighter, sharper, or more saturated in person.
Color depends on the page
A color E Ink reader displays color in content created in color, such as book covers, illustrations, and comics. It does not add color to pages that were authored in black and white. Kobo describes this limitation in its color-screen information.

Which one is better for your priorities?
Choose Verta Color if low weight matters most
At 140 g on PocketBook’s product listing, Verta Color is 34 g lighter than the 174 g Clara Colour listed by Kobo. That published difference may matter if you often hold a reader one-handed or carry it around, but it is not a substitute for trying the devices if handling comfort is decisive.

Choose Clara Colour if water protection matters
Kobo specifies IPX8 protection for Clara Colour, including submersion for up to 60 minutes in 2 m of water. PocketBook lists IPX4 for Verta Color. These are different protection ratings, so do not treat IPX4 as equivalent to Kobo’s stated submersion protection; follow each manufacturer’s care guidance.
Check formats against the books you already own
Kobo’s factsheet names EPUB, EPUB3, PDF, MOBI, CBZ, and CBR among Clara Colour’s supported formats. PocketBook promotes broad format support at brand level, but that alone does not verify a specific Verta Color compatibility list. If you rely on a particular file type, confirm it in the Verta Color manual before buying.

PocketBook’s Germany product listing showed Verta Color as “Out of stock” and “Coming soon” when checked on October 7, 2026. PocketBook also lists SMARTlight and physical page-turn buttons in its product-page copy; verify the local model and listing for your market before relying on availability or configuration.

The official listings do not provide a like-for-like price comparison: PocketBook Germany displayed €179 for Verta Color, while Kobo’s US store displayed $179.99 for Clara Colour. Kobo’s factsheet gives a US MSRP of $149.99 and notes market-specific MSRPs. These are regional storefront amounts, not directly comparable prices, and may change. Verdict: lighter PocketBook or more water protection from Kobo
On the specifications available, Verta Color is the lighter pick, while Clara Colour has the stronger stated water-protection rating and a manufacturer-published list of formats. Their core display specifications are alike. Your practical choice therefore turns on handling weight, water exposure, file compatibility, and which model is actually sold where you live—not an established screen-quality advantage.
