Pluto TV’s catalog varies by country, and a VPN may change the location Pluto TV sees—but it may also be detected and blocked. In an October 2026 guide, Gizmodo reported access through US servers from NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and Private Internet Access (PIA). Those are Gizmodo’s test results, not a guarantee or independent testing by iTechGuides.
Where is Pluto TV available?
A Gizmodo guide updated for October 2026 lists Pluto TV in 30 countries. This is a third-party roster, not an official country directory from Pluto TV or Paramount, so availability should be checked again before relying on it.
- North America: United States and Canada.
- Europe: United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
- Latin America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Gizmodo notes that Pluto TV channels in Australia are available through Network 10 rather than listing Australia as a Pluto TV market. Regional distribution and channel selections differ. Paramount’s 2022 announcement about the Nordic launch described Pluto TV as available in more than 30 countries and territories globally at that time; that historical figure is not a current country count.

| VPN | Reported result | What the comparison supports |
|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | Gizmodo reported access in its October 2026 tests using US servers. | Gizmodo called it its top choice; that is the publisher’s judgment, not a guarantee of access. |
| ExpressVPN | Gizmodo reported access in its October 2026 tests using US servers. | Gizmodo characterized setup as simple; current plan terms and compatibility should be checked with the provider. |
| Surfshark | Gizmodo reported access in its October 2026 tests using US servers. | Gizmodo described it as an option for a household; verify current device and plan limits with the provider. |
| Private Internet Access (PIA) | Gizmodo reported access in its October 2026 tests using US servers. | Gizmodo assessed it as lower cost; prices and renewal terms can change. |
Gizmodo also reported that Proton VPN and CyberGhost failed in those tests. Proton’s own Pluto TV support page, however, says users can connect to specified Plus servers in the United States, France, Switzerland, or Germany, while warning that Pluto TV may not always work. Proton says it does not condone using its VPN to bypass copyright regulations. These accounts differ, so Proton should not be treated as a confirmed working option on the basis of either statement alone.
A VPN provider’s server availability, Pluto TV’s detection methods, and regional catalogs can change. Check current service terms, local rules, and the provider’s current setup guidance before subscribing; no result here promises that a particular server will work for you.

How to try Pluto TV through a VPN
- Install a VPN app on the device you will use to watch Pluto TV, if an app is available for it.
- Connect to a server in a country where Pluto TV is listed as available. A US server is the configuration Gizmodo used for its reported tests and should present the US catalog if Pluto TV accepts the connection.
- Open Pluto TV in its app or a browser. If you are switching countries and see the old catalog, Gizmodo advises clearing Pluto TV cookies before trying again.
Pluto TV is free and ad-supported. Its official About Us page describes hundreds of live linear channels and thousands of on-demand titles, but does not provide a dated country-by-country catalog count.
What to do if Pluto TV blocks the connection
Gizmodo describes several errors that can point to different problems. Use them as troubleshooting clues, not definitive diagnoses.

- “Pluto TV is not available in your location”: Gizmodo says this can mean the location is outside a supported market or the VPN is disconnected. Confirm the VPN connection and selected region.
- A proxy or VPN warning: Pluto TV may have flagged the VPN server’s IP address. Connecting to a different server in the same supported country may help, but access is not assured.
- Error code 3005: Gizmodo identifies this as a playback error. It does not establish that every 3005 error is caused by a VPN.
Schools and employers may prohibit VPN use, and a VPN may not bypass all network filters. Follow the network owner’s rules rather than attempting to evade them.

Pluto TV’s official supported-device page lists Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android, Windows desktop, and web viewing. You may be able to watch on a device you already own; a new streaming device is not required. Gizmodo recommends installing the VPN on the viewing device where possible. If a TV platform cannot run a VPN app, its guide mentions Smart DNS or configuring a VPN on a router as alternatives; those setups vary by device and provider.
