PlayStation Store refund eligibility depends on your account region and what you bought. For a US account, start in Transaction History, select an eligible purchase, and choose Request Refund. Before submitting, check the local policy for your purchase category: downloads, streaming, gameplay, subscription use, and the date you paid can affect eligibility.
How to request a PlayStation Store refund
Use the support route and labels displayed for your account’s region. The following steps are for a US account, according to PlayStation’s US Store and refunds guide.
- Open Transaction History for the account that made the purchase.
- Select the transaction you want reviewed.
- Choose Request Refund if the transaction is eligible.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
PlayStation’s Ireland guide uses a different route: open Order details, select an eligible transaction, then choose Cancel Purchase and follow the instructions. The guide also directs customers to its online assistant or PlayStation Support for help. Check the rules for your purchase type
Deadlines and conditions differ by category. The examples below describe PlayStation’s Ireland policy; they are not a universal statement of every country’s rules. Check your region’s policy and any rights available under local law.

Games, add-ons, and season passes
Under the Ireland guide, a game or DLC request generally must be made within 14 days of purchase, and the content must not have been downloaded or streamed. Faulty content and applicable local law may affect your rights. PlayStation’s Ireland refund guide
In-game consumables
The Ireland policy covers virtual currency and other items depleted during gameplay. The request window is 14 days, and the game must not have been launched after purchase. Items bought outside gameplay are delivered the next time the game launches; items bought during gameplay are delivered immediately. PlayStation’s Ireland refund guide

Subscriptions
The Ireland guide gives customers 14 days from signup to request a refund of the first subscription payment, not recurring fees. Time spent in a free trial counts toward that period. If you used the subscription, the refund may be reduced to account for the use. Cancelling stops future payments but does not itself request a refund. PlayStation’s Ireland refund guide
Digital pre-orders
The Ireland policy distinguishes pre-orders by when payment was taken. If you paid more than 14 days before release, you may request a refund before release, provided the main content has not been downloaded or streamed. If you paid 14 days or less before release, the stated window is up to 14 days after payment, with the same restriction on downloading or streaming the main content. Wallet top-ups, online IDs, and voucher codes
- Wallet top-ups: the Ireland FAQ says these cannot be cancelled.
- New online ID purchases: the Ireland FAQ says these are not refundable unless faulty.
- Voucher codes bought elsewhere: contact the retailer that sold the code.

What to check before submitting
- Region: identify the country or region of the PlayStation account and use its cancellation policy. PlayStation’s UK policy also notes that local law can provide additional rights. PlayStation’s UK cancellation policy
- Purchase date and category: determine whether the relevant clock runs from purchase, signup, or pre-order payment.
- Content status: check whether you downloaded or streamed the content, launched the game, received an item, or used a subscription.
- Pre-order timing: compare the payment date with the release date, and consider whether cancelling would remove early bonus content.
Where the refund goes and how long it may take
PlayStation’s Ireland FAQ says you may receive a refund in 10 days. It says refunds go to the original payment method where possible; otherwise, the money is credited to the PlayStation wallet. This is an Ireland-specific estimate, not a guaranteed timeline for every region or payment method.
