There is no confirmed Pixel Tablet 2 release date, and its rumored keyboard, stylus, display and processor were never announced as shipping products. Here is what the productivity upgrade was supposed to include—and what Pixel Tablet owners can actually count on.
Was the Pixel Tablet 2 canceled?
Android Authority’s updated rumor coverage reported that Google canceled the planned Pixel Tablet 2. Android Central later reported that Google had canceled second- and third-generation tablet plans amid concerns about sales and profitability. A separate Android Authority report said a Bloomberg account appeared to confirm tablets were not among Google’s current development priorities. These reports describe a change in plans, not an official Google announcement of a new tablet or a confirmed date for one.
That means there is no confirmed Pixel Tablet 2 release date. Android Authority’s rumor coverage suggested a later Google tablet might arrive around 2027 under a different product-generation plan, but that is a possibility reported by the outlet—not a launch commitment.
What was the Pixel Tablet 2 keyboard upgrade?
The headline productivity feature was a rumored first-party keyboard cover. Android Authority reported that it would attach to the tablet using pogo pins on the back and fold into a stand. In principle, that design would let someone prop up the tablet and type without relying on a separate Bluetooth keyboard and stand.

The cover was a reported prototype feature, not a released Google accessory. There is no confirmed price, availability, final design or evidence in these reports that the accessory will work with the original Pixel Tablet.
What productivity features were rumored?
The reported upgrade combined possible accessories with Android software and connectivity changes. Those pieces could have made a tablet more practical for typing, pointing, handwriting and using a larger screen, but reports about development work do not establish that every feature would have shipped.
Keyboard, touchpad and desktop-style use
Android Authority described Android work involving keyboard accessibility, keyboard shortcuts, touchpad gestures and tutorials, plus desktop windowing. Together, those features point toward a more laptop-like way to use Android: type with a physical keyboard, navigate with a touchpad, and arrange app windows rather than treating the tablet only as a single-app screen.

The reports did not establish which of these features would have been exclusive to the Pixel Tablet 2, which Android version would include them, or whether all would have reached a final release.
Stylus and handwriting
A stylus was also part of the unconfirmed accessory plans. Android Authority reported work that included connected-keyboard and stylus firmware updates, while Tech Advisor summarized leaked plans that mentioned a first-party stylus. Android work on handwriting support in Gboard was also part of the reported productivity effort.
No Pixel Tablet 2 stylus was announced, and the reports do not confirm a final stylus design, price, launch date or compatibility with the original Pixel Tablet. Handwriting support in Gboard should not be mistaken for proof that a particular Google stylus was ready for sale.

External display support
Tech Advisor’s summary of leaked plans said the tablet might support DisplayPort output up to 4K. That would have mattered for users wanting to connect a monitor, but it remained an unconfirmed specification. The report does not establish a shipping Pixel Tablet 2, a final display-output resolution or which apps and windowing features would have worked on an external monitor.
Pixel Tablet 2 specs: what the leaks claimed
Tech Advisor summarized leaked, unconfirmed plans for the following hardware. None of these figures should be treated as final product specifications: Google did not announce the Pixel Tablet 2 as a shipping device.
| Rumored item | Leaked detail | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 10.95-inch LCD; 2,560 × 1,600 resolution; 120Hz refresh rate; 550 nits | Unconfirmed leak summarized by Tech Advisor |
| Processor | Tensor G4 | Unconfirmed leak summarized by Tech Advisor |
| External display | DisplayPort output up to 4K | Unconfirmed leak summarized by Tech Advisor |
| Cameras | Upgraded front and rear cameras; specific specifications not stated | Unconfirmed leak summarized by Tech Advisor |
| Battery | 7,200mAh | Unconfirmed leak summarized by Tech Advisor |
| Accessories | First-party keyboard and stylus | Unconfirmed plans; no released Pixel Tablet 2 accessories confirmed |
These details are useful for understanding what the rumored upgrade might have aimed for, not for deciding whether to wait for a product with those exact capabilities. Leaked plans can change, and in this case reports subsequently said the planned successor was canceled.

What can Pixel Tablet owners buy and use now?
The original Pixel Tablet launched in 2023 at $499, according to Android Central. Its distinctive productivity-adjacent accessory is the Pixel Tablet Charging Speaker Dock: Android Authority described it as a separately sold $130 accessory that charges the tablet and provides a stronger speaker experience. The dock is not the rumored keyboard cover and does not turn the tablet into a laptop-style setup.
Availability has also changed. In September 2026, Android Central reported that Google had removed the original tablet from its store and that it had disappeared from Amazon and Best Buy, leaving no official new purchase route through those retailers at that time. Retail inventory can change, so this is a report of availability in September 2026 rather than a guarantee about every seller today.
For people who already own the original Pixel Tablet, Android Central reported in 2026 that support was extended through June 2028, citing Google support documentation. That support horizon applies to the existing tablet; it is not evidence that Google is preparing a successor.

Quick Recap
What to conclude if you are waiting for a Google tablet
- Do not plan a purchase around a Pixel Tablet 2 keyboard or stylus: neither was confirmed as a released Google product.
- Treat the leaked 120Hz display, Tensor G4, 4K DisplayPort output, cameras and battery as rumor details, not a specification sheet.
- There is no confirmed Pixel Tablet 2 release date. A possible later tablet around 2027 was reported as speculation, while other reporting said Google had canceled the planned generations and deprioritized tablets.
- If you already own the first Pixel Tablet, the reported June 2028 support horizon is the relevant update information; it does not promise a replacement.
