A P106-100 mining rig needs a frame and motherboard that fit the actual cards, provide suitable PCIe connections and power, and keep the GPUs cool. The exact case, motherboard, card count, and finished configuration behind the “assembled” update could not be identified, so those parts should not be guessed. This guide explains what to check before treating any frame-and-board combination as compatible.
What the P106-100 means for a build
The P106-100 is a mining-focused NVIDIA Pascal card. A secondary specifications listing gives it 6 GB of GDDR5, 1,280 shader units, a listed 120 W TDP, and one 6-pin power connector (NVIDIA GPU Database / Axiom Gaming specifications). These are reference figures, not guarantees for every board variant. Check the label and documentation for the specific card before choosing power connections or estimating heat output.
Mining-focused hardware documentation confirms that P106 cards were used in mining setups, but it does not identify the motherboard in this particular build. ASUS’s Mining Configuration Guide discusses P106 mining cards. That establishes a relevant use case, not universal compatibility with any mining motherboard.
How to choose a case and motherboard
Do not choose by the label “mining” alone. Compare the actual card count and layout with the motherboard, frame, and power arrangement. A mismatch in slot spacing or mounting can make a theoretically suitable board impractical to assemble or cool.

- Motherboard: Check the number and physical arrangement of PCIe slots against the planned card layout. Confirm the board’s own documentation covers the intended setup; slot count alone does not establish compatibility.
- Frame: An open-air GPU mining rig frame is a category-level option, not a particular recommendation. Confirm that its mounting points and card spacing suit the cards and board you will use.
- Power: Match the supply’s capacity and available PCIe power connectors to the exact cards and other components. The listed 120 W TDP is a specification reference, not a complete system-power estimate.
- Cooling: Plan active airflow around the installed GPUs and other heat-producing parts. A frame that holds the cards does not by itself demonstrate that temperatures will be suitable.
ASUS’s B250 Mining Expert user guide includes a section on installing mining cards and identifies P106 cards. It is a documented example of a mining-oriented motherboard, but the available information does not show that it was used in the titled build or that it fits a particular reader’s frame and card arrangement.
What documented mining systems can—and cannot—tell you
Published examples help illustrate the design choices involved, but they are not interchangeable build recipes. The systems below are evidence of different approaches, not proof of the parts used in the assembled update.

What is known about the assembled update
The available information does not identify the exact case or motherboard, the number of cards, or the final configuration. It therefore cannot support a claim that a specific model was assembled, that a particular number of P106-100 cards fitted, or that a given power and cooling arrangement was used. The reliable takeaway is narrower: mining frames and boards are relevant categories, and model-specific fit and setup must be checked against the actual components.
