The October 6, 2026 Overwatch retail update moves Sombra from Damage to Support, removes Hack as an ability, and gives her ally-healing and enemy-debuff tools. Roadhog gains Trash Compactor, which absorbs incoming projectiles and returns an explosive attack, alongside changes to his Scrap Gun, Chain Hook, and Take a Breather. The figures below are Blizzard’s published patch-note values, not independently tested results; later hotfixes may change them.
These changes are part of Reign of Talon Season 5. Blizzard’s October 6 retail patch notes give the detailed ability values, while the season announcement provides a shorter overview.
What changed for Sombra?
Sombra is now a Support hero rather than a Damage hero, and her subrole changes from Recon to Tactician. Hack is removed as an ability. In its place, she gets tools to heal allies and disrupt enemies without locking them out of using abilities.
Hotfix heals allies and hacks packs or deployables
Hotfix heals a targeted ally for 65 health instantly, then 25 health per second, up to 175 total healing or 12 seconds. It has two charges, an eight-second cooldown, a 17-meter range, and a 0.5-second cast time.

Enemies in the zone receive Weaken, which cuts their damage and healing output by 50%. Unlike Hack’s former ability lockout, Weaken reduces what opponents can do without preventing them from using their abilities.
What changed for Roadhog?
Roadhog gets a new secondary-fire ability, Trash Compactor, replacing the Scrap Gun’s former secondary fire. Blizzard says the rework aims to make Chain Hook less frustratingly lethal and give Roadhog a more traditional way to help his team as a Tank. That is the stated design intent, not evidence of a measured change in match outcomes.

Why did Blizzard rework the heroes?
Blizzard says Sombra’s move to Support is intended to emphasize her disruptive mastermind identity while preserving important gameplay elements. Its patch notes describe Hack’s ability lockout as jarring, frustrating, and difficult to deal with. The replacement Weaken debuff is meant to retain disruption without stopping opponents from using abilities.

For Roadhog, Blizzard’s stated goals are to reduce the frustration caused by Chain Hook’s lethality and provide a tool that helps him support his team in a more traditional Tank role. The developer comments describe Trash Compactor as both defensive and offensive: it can absorb incoming projectiles, then convert that damage into a counterattack.
