Overwatch Coins buy eligible items in the general In-Game Shop and Hero Gallery, while Mythic Prisms unlock Mythic cosmetics and their customization levels. The currencies are not interchangeable: Coins cannot buy Mythic items or be converted into Prisms, and Prisms cannot pay for ordinary shop or Hero Gallery items. Check the in-game shop and Battle Pass for current prices, rewards, and availability.
What do Overwatch Coins buy?
Coins are used for eligible general shop and Hero Gallery content, such as non-Mythic cosmetics. The items available for Overwatch Credits can vary, and not every item is necessarily purchasable with Coins; check the currency shown on the item in game. Blizzard also says Coins can be used to unlock the Premium Battle Pass. Blizzard’s Mythic Shop FAQ explains the currency distinction, but current item prices and offers should be checked in game.

What can you buy with Mythic Prisms?
Mythic Prisms are for Mythic cosmetics: they unlock a Mythic skin’s base version and its customization levels in the Mythic Shop. Blizzard has also featured Mythic weapon skins, so the Mythic category is not limited to hero skins. For example, its Season 17 announcement listed the Mythic Horang D.Va Hero Skin and Reaper Steel Death Weapon Skin. That announcement describes Season 17, not the current shop selection.
How Mythic unlocks work
Blizzard’s Mythic Shop FAQ describes a base unlock followed by customization levels. Those levels are unlocked in sequence, although the FAQ says an “unlock all” option is available if you have enough Prisms. The FAQ describes most Mythic skins at the time as having three additional customization levels; check the specific item in the current shop for its available unlocks and cost.

Can you use Coins to buy Mythic skins or convert them to Prisms?
No. Blizzard explicitly says Coins and Credits cannot buy Mythic skins or upgrades and cannot be redeemed for Prisms. The reverse is also true for ordinary eligible content: Prisms are not a substitute for Coins or Credits when buying general shop or Hero Gallery items. You need the currency shown for the specific item.
How do you get each currency?
Mythic Prisms
Blizzard says players can earn Mythic Prisms by progressing through the Premium Battle Pass or purchase additional Prisms in game. Its FAQ describes completing the Premium Battle Pass as the best way to obtain a Mythic skin and its customizations. The exact reward quantity and purchase terms can change, so consult the current pass and in-game store rather than relying on an older season’s figures.

Overwatch Coins
Coin rewards and Battle Pass contents vary by season. Blizzard’s Season 10 announcement said the pass offered up to 600 Overwatch Coins and that completing its Premium Battle Pass provided 80 Mythic Prisms. Its Season 17 announcement later described up to 80 Mythic Prisms in that season’s Premium Battle Pass, 600 Overwatch Coins among its free rewards, and 2,000 Coins in the Ultimate Battle Pass bundle. These are dated examples from 2024 and 2025, respectively—not confirmed 2026 rewards. See Blizzard’s Season 10 announcement and Season 17 announcement for those season-specific details.

Blizzard’s FAQ describes a featured Mythic skin as available during its season, with previous skins returning later. It also says a player who unlocks a skin’s base version while it is featured can continue upgrading it after the base leaves the shop. Those are FAQ-era schedule details, not a verified 2026 rotation calendar. Check the live Mythic Shop in game before planning a purchase; current availability and return dates are not established by those older announcements.
