For buyers comparing the India-listed versions, the Xiaomi REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G has the lower displayed price and larger battery, while the OPPO Reno16 5G offers a dedicated 3.5x optical telephoto camera and a higher-tier listed chipset. A 91mobiles comparison displayed ₹66,999 for the Reno16 and ₹49,999 for the Redmi—a ₹17,000 difference—but the Redmi configuration behind that listing is not established, and neither price is a guaranteed live quote.
India price difference: the Redmi listing is ₹17,000 lower
The third-party 91mobiles comparison page displayed an Amazon-referenced price of ₹66,999 for the OPPO Reno16 5G and ₹49,999 for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G. That is a displayed difference of ₹17,000 in the Redmi’s favor, not a verified like-for-like offer: the Redmi storage configuration behind the price snippet is not stated, and retailer prices can change. See the comparison listing.
OPPO’s official India details list the Reno16 at ₹66,999 for 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, or ₹72,999 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. OPPO says these tax-inclusive prices were correct on 31 August 2026 and are subject to change. Its India store listing displayed the same two prices when accessed on 4 October 2026. Xiaomi’s India specification page establishes product specifications, not an official India price. Check the retailer, RAM and storage configuration, warranty and local availability before buying.

What the camera and display specifications mean
Choose based on the kind of camera hardware you want
The clearest rear-camera distinction is the Reno16’s listed 3.5x optical telephoto, alongside its wide and ultrawide cameras. Xiaomi lists a main camera and an ultrawide for the Redmi, but no telephoto. The Reno16 also has a higher stated front-camera resolution and lists 4K recording at both 30fps and 60fps; Xiaomi lists 4K at 30fps for the Redmi. These are hardware and recording-mode differences, not evidence that one phone takes better photos or video.

Compare screen size and resolution, not just refresh rate
Both India listings specify displays that can reach 120Hz. Xiaomi’s listed panel is larger and has more pixels on paper: 6.83 inches and 2772 × 1280, compared with OPPO’s 16.05cm (about 6.32 inches) and 2640 × 1216. Those specifications alone do not establish brightness, color accuracy, outdoor visibility or overall viewing quality.
Battery and included charger vary by market
On the India specification pages, Xiaomi lists a 10000mAh typical battery and 100W HyperCharge, while OPPO lists a 6700mAh typical battery and 80W SUPERVOOC. Both manufacturers’ cited India pages say a charger is included. Capacity and charging wattage do not establish real-world battery life or charging time.

Xiaomi’s UK specification page instead lists a 9210mAh typical battery and says a power adapter is not included. Treat that as UK-market product information rather than combining it with the India figures into a single universal specification. Confirm the exact regional model and box contents in your country. Which phone should you choose?
The OPPO Reno16 may suit you if
- You want a listed 3.5x optical telephoto camera rather than a two-camera rear setup.
- You value the listed Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, though no independent benchmark comparison is established here.
- You need the Reno16’s listed IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings or its 4K front-camera recording options.
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G may suit you if
- You want the lower displayed India comparison price, while confirming the exact storage configuration and current seller offer.
- You prefer the larger, higher-resolution display specified for the India model.
- You prioritize the India-listed 10000mAh typical battery and 100W charging specifications.
Check regional fit before ordering
The prices and most of the comparison above are India-specific; the title alone does not establish availability or equivalent specifications in other countries. OPPO notes that regional pricing, availability and release timing vary in its global Reno16 series announcement. Xiaomi’s UK listing also shows why regional details matter. Before ordering, confirm the exact model, local warranty, network-band compatibility, SIM support and included charger with the manufacturer or seller. OPPO’s India details specify dual Nano-SIM and no eSIM support; connectivity and carrier support should be checked for the country and operator where you will use the phone.
