OpenLogi is the closest alternative to Logitech Options+ when you want local configuration or Linux support for a compatible Logitech mouse. It exposes device controls such as button remapping, DPI, and SmartShift, but it is still under active development and is not a stable, feature-for-feature replacement. Logitech Options+ remains the official choice, especially for app-specific actions and Flow.
Which Logitech mouse customization tool should you choose?

This is a comparison of documented capabilities, not an independent head-to-head test. OpenLogi’s documentation, repository, and installation guide, along with Logitech’s Options+ page, describe their respective features and limitations.
What OpenLogi can do
OpenLogi communicates with supported Logitech devices using the HID++ protocol. Its documented mouse controls include button remapping, DPI adjustment, SmartShift, and scroll and lighting controls. The project describes its configuration as a plain-text TOML file; button presses are remapped through an operating-system input hook.
It can connect to compatible devices over Bolt, Unifying, or Lightspeed receivers, Bluetooth directly, or USB. Its documentation also covers some Logitech keyboards, lights, and webcams, though mouse support is the relevant focus here. OpenLogi’s documentation identifies published v0.8.11 as its baseline and says it was last updated October 3, 2026; features and configuration may change as development continues. Does OpenLogi support your Logitech mouse?
Support is both model-specific and control-specific: a mouse can appear on the supported-device list without exposing every feature OpenLogi offers. The list includes models such as the MX Master 3S, MX Master 4, MX Anywhere models, and Lift. The MX Master 3S is one documented example, not a guarantee that every control on it—or on another supported model—is available.
Check the live supported-device list and device-check instructions before switching. OpenLogi’s documentation says non-Logitech hardware is unsupported and that writing onboard-memory profiles for Logitech G-series devices is not supported.

When the device is connected, the project documents these CLI commands for inspecting it and its reported capabilities:
openlogi list— list detected devices.openlogi diag features— inspect reported features.openlogi diag controls— inspect available controls.
These reports help distinguish a device being recognized from a specific setting being available.

Does OpenLogi work on Linux, Windows, and macOS?
Linux
Linux support is a central reason to consider OpenLogi. Installation may require udev permissions for HID++ commands and input remapping; follow the project’s installation guide for the required setup. If Solaar is already using a Logitech receiver, close it before launching OpenLogi.
Windows
The OpenLogi repository characterizes its Windows build as an early, untested preview. That is a material maturity limitation, so it is not the best choice if you need dependable Windows operation.

macOS
The supplied project details do not establish OpenLogi’s macOS availability or maturity. Logitech lists Options+ downloads for macOS 14 or later on its official page; consult that live page for current requirements.

Not when both need access to the same receiver. OpenLogi’s installation guide says only one application can own a receiver at a time, so quit Options+ before launching OpenLogi. On Linux, apply the same rule to Solaar. This limitation concerns shared receiver access; it does not establish that the two applications conflict in every possible connection setup.

How to choose between OpenLogi and Options+
- Check your exact mouse and controls. Confirm the model in the supported-device list, then use the device diagnostics to verify the settings you need.
- Match the software to your operating system. OpenLogi is particularly relevant on Linux, while its Windows support is described as an untested preview. For Options+, check Logitech’s current platform requirements.
- Prioritize the features you actually use. OpenLogi documents local TOML configuration and device-level controls. Options+ advertises app-specific actions, gestures, pointer and scrolling controls, and Flow.
- Choose your preferred configuration style and maturity level. OpenLogi offers a local, text-based approach but is not yet stable; Options+ is Logitech’s official software.
You do not need to buy a new mouse merely to try the software: compatibility depends on the Logitech model you already own and which controls it reports.
