ONLYOFFICE announced Docs 9.1 on 14 October 2025. Its headline changes are PDF redaction and annotation tools plus updates to spreadsheet LOOKUP-family formulas. The release also adds changes across documents, presentations, charts, supported formats, and server administration. Docs 9.1 is a historical release, not the latest version: a later official API changelog result reports Docs 9.4.
What changed in the PDF Editor?
Docs 9.1 adds a Redact tab with a “Mark for Redaction” action and a “Find & Redact” option for locating text. The announcement also lists new annotation tools. These descriptions establish what ONLYOFFICE says the editor can do; they do not independently validate redaction against a regulatory standard or guarantee that confidential information cannot be recovered.
Which spreadsheet formulas are faster?
ONLYOFFICE says it updated LOOKUP, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and XLOOKUP to improve handling of mixed data types and reduce memory use. The release announcement reports up to 4x faster exact searches with VLOOKUP and a 4x speed boost for linear searches with XLOOKUP. These are vendor-reported performance claims; the announcement does not provide an independent test or methodology.
Other spreadsheet changes
- Set cell text direction to left-to-right or right-to-left.
- Use a dedicated Table Design tab for formatted-table settings.
- Apply date filters in Pivot Tables.
- Open and view sheets containing several content controls.
- Rename a sheet by double-clicking its tab.
- See active formula arguments highlighted while entering a formula.
What else is included in Docs 9.1?
Documents, presentations, and charts
- Control whether resolved and open comments are displayed.
- Use chart-element toggles and work with external diagram data.
- Access a dedicated Slide Master tab.
- Insert MathML formulas and place section breaks inside block Content Controls.
- Use a full-featured chart editor in documents and presentations that can open embedded XLSX files.
Formats, conversion, and administration
- Open and view HEIF images and HWPML documents.
- Convert PDF directly to TXT and PPTX directly to TXT.
- In the server version, use an Admin Panel to view status and configuration settings.
ONLYOFFICE summarized the release as including more than a dozen new features, performance improvements, and over 500 bug fixes. That is the publisher’s release-wide count, not an independently audited total.

Who may benefit from the update?
| Workflow | Why Docs 9.1 may matter | What the announcement establishes |
|---|---|---|
| PDF editing | Redaction and annotation tools address document-review tasks. | The vendor describes the tools, but offers no independent security or compliance validation in the announcement. |
| Spreadsheets with LOOKUP formulas | Formula updates target mixed data types and memory use. | The 4x figures are vendor claims, not independently tested results. |
| Cross-editor work | Chart, content-control, format, and conversion changes span several editors. | The announcement lists the features but does not establish current feature parity across editions. |
| Self-hosted deployments | The server Admin Panel exposes status and configuration settings. | The release description identifies an administration feature, not a complete deployment or support guide. |
The release announcement provides availability context for self-hosted and cloud use, but does not establish whether every feature is available identically in every edition. Check the edition and deployment you use before relying on a specific capability.

ONLYOFFICE announced Docs 9.1 on 14 October 2025. The official API changelog search result also corroborates the 9.1.0 date and selected entries. A later result from the official API changelog reports Docs 9.4, so 9.1 should be treated as a past release rather than a current-version announcement. The 9.1 announcement remains the source for the feature descriptions above.
