Is the OnePlus Open 2 real, and has OnePlus cancelled it?
The OnePlus Open 2 has not been established as a released product by the sources available as of October 8, 2026. OnePlus has not published an official Open 2 specification sheet, price, or release date in those sources.
In February 2025, OnePlus’s foldable product manager, Vale G, said the company had “made the decision not to release a foldable this year,” as reported by The Indian Express. That statement is limited to 2025; it is not a confirmation that OnePlus permanently cancelled all future foldables.
A January 12, 2026 report by Android Central recounted rumors of a cancelled global launch, advanced device testing, and possible specifications. The report itself describes the claims as rumors. They should not be treated as proof of a final cancellation, a launch plan, or the phone’s actual hardware.

What is known about the Open 2’s specifications and launch?
No official Open 2 specifications, price, or launch date are confirmed in the cited sources. That means there is no reliable basis for a spec-to-spec comparison or for buying an accessory on the assumption it will fit the Open 2.
Any screen sizes, camera details, chipset, or storage figures attributed to the Open 2 in the January 2026 leak coverage are unconfirmed. A leaked or rumored configuration can change, or the product may not reach consumers; it is not a substitute for an official specification sheet.
The original OnePlus Open is a separate, confirmed product
OnePlus globally announced the original OnePlus Open on October 19, 2023. Its launch materials and OnePlus India product page describe this predecessor, not an Open 2. The listed specifications are useful only as a baseline for the existing model.

What do OnePlus’s durability and charging figures mean?
OnePlus said the original Open was tested by TÜV Rheinland for 1,000,000 folds. This is a company-reported test figure from the 2023 launch announcement, not an independent review of the test or a guarantee of a particular owner’s device lifespan.
OnePlus also reported a sample mean weight of 239.39 g for Voyager Black phones tested without protective films. It is a specific sample and finish measurement, not a stated weight for every configuration.
For the original Open, OnePlus says its lab measured charging from 1% to 100% in about 42 minutes in a test dated August 16, 2023. The test used the official SUPERVOOC adapter, Smart Rapid Charging Mode, a screen-off phone, and controlled device and environmental temperature. OnePlus notes that actual charging performance varies; the figure is not an Open 2 claim.
