The OnePlus 16 is reported to have a 9,000mAh battery, up from the OnePlus 15’s reported 7,300mAh. That is a 1,700mAh increase—about 23% by calculation—but capacity alone does not establish how long the new phone will last between charges.
What OnePlus has announced
Android Authority reported on October 1, 2026, that OnePlus executive Li Jie Louis revealed the 9,000mAh figure in a Weibo post. GSMArena reported the same announcement the following day. Neither figure is a battery-life test: it is a stated capacity. Android Authority and GSMArena also give the OnePlus 15’s capacity as 7,300mAh.

Why earlier reports mention 8,780mAh
Before the announcement reports, Gizmochina attributed a technical detail to tipster Digital Chat Station: two cells rated at 4,390mAh each, for 8,780mAh rated capacity and an approximately 9,000mAh typical equivalent. That is leak context, not an independently verified final product label. Gizmochina’s August 2026 report described the distinction.
Does 9,000mAh mean three days of battery life?
No. A larger capacity can provide more stored energy, but it does not translate directly into a fixed number of hours or days. Actual runtime depends on the phone’s hardware, software, signal conditions, screen use, and other factors. The reviewed coverage contains no OnePlus 16 battery-life test, so claims about multi-day use are predictions, not measured results for this phone.

What is known about charging?
Android Authority reported 50W wireless charging and bypass charging as confirmed. It said wired charging speed had not been officially stated at publication. Earlier reporting discussed 100W wired charging as a tip or report, not a confirmed specification; see Gizmochina’s September 2026 report.
When and where will the OnePlus 16 be available?
GSMArena reported an October 12, 2026 China debut. Android Authority reported no Europe or US availability following OnePlus’s exit from those markets. These reports do not establish availability in other regions, and they do not verify a retail listing or price.
