The OnePlus 15’s biggest spec-sheet changes are a larger battery, a newer-generation processor, and a display capable of a higher refresh rate. The trade-off is that its 1.5K screen has lower stated resolution than the OnePlus 13’s 2K panel. Both have three 50MP rear cameras, but that does not make their photos equivalent—and one reviewer preferred the OnePlus 13 in challenging scenes. Whether the 15 is a worthwhile upgrade depends on which differences matter to you and the current price of a comparable model in your country.

OnePlus 15 vs. OnePlus 13: key differences

Feature OnePlus 15 OnePlus 13
Battery capacity 7,300mAh, non-removable, dual-cell, according to OnePlus’s global specifications page (OnePlus 15 specifications) 6,000mAh, non-removable, dual-cell, according to OnePlus India’s specifications page (OnePlus 13 specifications)
Display 6.78-inch LTPO, 1.5K resolution, up to 165Hz, per OnePlus’s US product page (OnePlus 15 product page) 2K resolution, as described in Android Central’s comparison; the consulted source does not state a comparable refresh-rate figure (Android Central comparison)
Processor Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in OnePlus’s US specifications (OnePlus 15 specifications) Snapdragon 8 Elite in OnePlus India’s specifications (OnePlus 13 specifications)
Rear cameras Three 50MP cameras, advertised by OnePlus (OnePlus 15 product page) Android Central discusses the camera comparison; the cited materials here do not establish a directly comparable camera specification table (Android Central comparison)

These figures come from OnePlus pages for different markets and from a third-party comparison. Confirm the exact regional model before relying on details such as configuration, charging, network support, or warranty.

Does the OnePlus 15 have better battery life?

OnePlus lists a 7,300mAh battery for the 15 and a 6,000mAh battery for the 13. Those are capacity specifications, not measured runtimes: they do not establish how many hours either phone lasts in a particular person’s use. Screen settings, apps, signal strength, and other conditions affect endurance.

The 15 has the larger stated capacity, which makes it the more compelling choice on paper if battery capacity is your priority. The available figures do not prove a particular real-world battery-life advantage.

Which screen is better: 165Hz or 2K?

The OnePlus 15 pairs a 6.78-inch LTPO 1.5K display with a maximum advertised refresh rate of 165Hz. The OnePlus 13 has the higher stated resolution: 2K. In practical terms, the 15 emphasizes the potential for smoother motion in supported content, while the 13 offers more pixels. A higher maximum refresh rate does not mean every app or screen runs at that rate; actual refresh depends on content, software, and settings.

Choose based on what you notice more: motion smoothness in compatible uses or the sharper image associated with the higher-resolution panel. The specifications alone do not establish which display looks better to every viewer.

How much faster is the OnePlus 15?

The processor generation changes from Snapdragon 8 Elite in the OnePlus 13 to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the OnePlus 15, according to the cited regional specification pages. That establishes a newer platform in the 15, but the available evidence does not provide a comparable benchmark or workload-specific result. It therefore does not support a precise claim about how much faster the 15 is in gaming, everyday use, or demanding tasks.

Is the OnePlus 15 camera better?

OnePlus advertises three 50MP rear cameras on the 15. Megapixel counts describe resolution, not the overall quality of photos; they cannot show by themselves how a camera handles color, motion, detail, or difficult lighting.

Camera assessments are not uniformly in the 15’s favor. Android Central’s comparison says the OnePlus 13 performed better in challenging conditions and notes that the 15 does not have Hasselblad tuning. Treat that as the publication’s judgment for the scenes it assessed, not a guarantee that the 13 wins every shot or that every photographer will prefer its results. If camera performance is decisive, compare sample photos from the kinds of scenes you actually shoot.

Are the phones water-resistant?

OnePlus’s January 7, 2025 global launch announcement says the OnePlus 13 has IP68 and IP69 ratings. For the OnePlus 15, OnePlus warns that water resistance applies under normal use, is limited to fresh water, can diminish over time, and does not make the phone suitable for professional diving. These claims do not mean either device is waterproof; check the documentation and terms for the exact model sold in your market.

Should you upgrade from the OnePlus 13?

Choose the OnePlus 15 if

  • The larger stated battery capacity is attractive, while recognizing that capacity alone does not guarantee a specific runtime.
  • You want the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform.
  • You have a use for the higher maximum refresh rate and accept the move from a 2K panel to 1.5K.

Keep or consider the OnePlus 13 if

  • You value its higher stated screen resolution.
  • You prefer its camera characteristics, especially given Android Central’s assessment in challenging scenes.
  • It is meaningfully less expensive in your market and offers the storage tier, warranty, and regional features you need.

Before buying, compare the same storage tier and country variant, then check current local pricing, warranty coverage, and availability. Prices and stock were not established in the cited information, so there is no reliable universal price winner. If you are moving between models, verify accessory fit: a case made for the OnePlus 13 should not be assumed to fit the OnePlus 15.
