The OnePlus 13 is the stronger choice on listed hardware; the OnePlus 13R is the value pick only if it costs meaningfully less where you shop. Both list a typical 6,000mAh battery and a 1–120Hz display, but the 13 adds a sharper screen, a higher-tier processor, more expansive camera specifications, wireless charging, faster wired charging, faster USB, and higher water- and dust-resistance ratings. Current comparable prices vary by market and were not established here, so check live listings before deciding which is the better buy.

These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements. OnePlus cautions that listed numbers are obtained under controlled conditions and actual performance can vary with the product, software, use, and environment. The specifications pages cited here are regional: the OnePlus 13 page is for North America in French (Canada), while the 13R page is for North America in the US. Configurations and network bands can differ elsewhere.
Which is better value?
There is no defensible universal value winner without current, comparable prices. The OnePlus 13R is the sensible value choice when it is substantially cheaper than the OnePlus 13 and its lower-tier specifications suit your needs. If the price gap is small, the 13’s additional hardware may make the premium worthwhile.

What the OnePlus 13 gives you for the upgrade
A sharper display
The 13 has a 6.82-inch panel with 3168×1440 resolution, compared with 6.78 inches and 2780×1264 on the 13R. Both list a dynamic 1–120Hz refresh rate, so the main stated display advantage is resolution rather than a higher maximum refresh rate.
A higher-tier listed processor
The OnePlus 13 uses Snapdragon 8 Elite; the 13R uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That makes the 13 the higher-tier option on paper, but these specifications alone do not establish a particular difference in everyday speed, gaming performance, or benchmark results.
More expansive camera hardware
Both phones have a 50MP main camera. The 13 adds a 50MP 3× optical telephoto and 50MP ultra-wide, while the 13R has a 50MP 2× optical telephoto and 8MP ultra-wide. On specifications alone, the 13 offers the more capable-looking camera array; megapixel counts and zoom specifications do not prove which phone takes better photos in practice.
More charging options and faster listed USB
OnePlus lists 80W wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging for the 13, versus 55W wired charging for the 13R. The 13 also lists USB 3.2 Gen 1, while the 13R lists USB 2.0. These standards show a hardware distinction, not tested charging times or real-world file-transfer speeds.

Higher official ingress-protection ratings
OnePlus’s January 2025 launch release gives the 13 IP68/IP69 ratings and the 13R an IP65 rating. These are manufacturer-published ratings, not a guarantee that a damaged phone will survive a particular exposure. Neither rating means a phone is waterproof.
Rank #2
What the OnePlus 13R keeps—and what it gives up
The 13R retains a large 6,000mAh typical-capacity battery and a 1–120Hz LTPO display. Its listed capacity matches the 13’s, but that does not establish equal battery life: the 13 uses a dual-cell design and the 13R a single-cell design, and actual endurance depends on more than capacity.
In exchange for a potentially lower price, the 13R has lower display resolution, a less expansive ultra-wide camera specification, lower listed wired charging, no wireless charging listed on the cited specifications page, USB 2.0, and an IP65 rating. Buyers should decide whether those trade-offs matter more than the 13’s higher-tier hardware.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the OnePlus 13 if…
- You want the sharper display and the higher-tier listed processor.
- You value the 13’s 3× telephoto and higher-resolution ultra-wide camera specifications.
- You want wireless charging, higher listed wired charging, or USB 3.2 Gen 1.
- The higher IP68/IP69 ratings are important to you.
Choose the OnePlus 13R if…
- It is meaningfully less expensive than a comparable OnePlus 13 listing.
- You are comfortable with its lower display resolution and less expansive camera hardware.
- You do not need wireless charging or the 13’s faster listed USB standard.
- You want a phone that still lists a 6,000mAh typical-capacity battery and a dynamic 1–120Hz display.
Check regional model details before buying
The cited North American 13R specifications page lists a 12GB/256GB configuration, while the cited OnePlus 13 page lists 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB options. Do not assume those configurations are available in every country. Verify the exact model, storage, network bands, and carrier compatibility for your region before ordering.
The OnePlus 13 launch release also describes magnetic cases compatible with MagSafe accessories and an AIRVOOC 50W Magnetic Charger. These are optional OnePlus 13 accessories, not required purchases or evidence of 13R compatibility.
