The OnePlus 13 is rated IP69 and IP68 in controlled laboratory tests, giving it documented protection against dust, specified high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, and immersion under manufacturer-agreed conditions. That does not make it waterproof in every situation: OnePlus warns against seawater and beverages, says water resistance can decline with wear, and excludes liquid-immersion damage from its warranty.
What IP69 and IP68 mean on the OnePlus 13
IP ratings describe protection against solids and water under tests defined by IEC 60529, the international standard for enclosure ingress-protection codes. The first digit, 6, is the highest dust-protection level in the code. The water digits refer to different tests: 8 covers continuous immersion under agreed conditions, while 9 covers high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. OnePlus 13 IP69 test
OnePlus says the IP69 test used water at 80±5°C, flowing at 15±1 litres per minute. The phone was sprayed at angles of 0°, 30°, 60° and 90° for 30 seconds at each angle. These are the stated laboratory conditions, not a recommendation to expose your phone to hot water or pressure-wash it.
OnePlus 13 IP68 test
For IP68, OnePlus specifies immersion in still fresh water at 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, with water temperature controlled relative to the product. The depth and duration describe this test, not a general guarantee for every underwater use or accident.

Is the OnePlus 13 waterproof?
No phone should be treated as waterproof in every circumstance. The OnePlus 13’s ratings support resistance to dust and specific forms of water exposure, but IP testing does not certify protection from every liquid, chemical, pressure, temperature, duration, or real-world accident. The IP69 jet test is not a substitute for the IP68 immersion test, and neither rating removes the risks of damage or worn seals.
For ordinary rain or an accidental splash, its resistance is useful protection. It is not a reason to deliberately dunk the phone, shower with it, boil it, or use a pressure washer on it. OnePlus advises against immersing the phone in seawater or beverages and says not to charge it while wet. If it gets wet, avoid charging until it is dry.

How durable is the OnePlus 13 if it is dropped?
OnePlus says the display is protected by Ceramic Guard, which it rates “2 times tougher than standard smartphone glass.” The company attributes the comparison to its OnePlus Test Laboratory, but does not publish the drop height, sample size, or independent-lab details on the product page. Treat this as a manufacturer comparison—not a promise that the screen will survive a particular fall or surface. OnePlus 13 specifications.

What can weaken water resistance?
OnePlus says the phone’s resistance may decrease through daily wear. A cracked screen, bent frame, damaged seal, or repair that disturbs the phone’s seams can also undermine confidence in the original protection. The rating belongs to a device tested in controlled condition; it should not be assumed to remain unchanged after physical damage or service.

OnePlus states that liquid-immersion damage is not covered by its warranty. The IP ratings therefore should not be read as a warranty against water damage. Check the warranty terms for your region and purchase before relying on coverage. OnePlus 13 official product information.

Android Central reviewer Nick Sutrich awarded the OnePlus 13 5/5 and described it as the first phone to achieve IP69 water and dust resistance. In a later ownership report, the reviewer said he used it during India’s monsoon season without problems. That account is useful real-world context, but it is one reviewer’s experience, not a controlled durability test or a guarantee for other devices and conditions. How to compare the OnePlus 13’s durability with another phone
Do not compare IP numbers alone. Check which kinds of water exposure are actually rated, the test conditions disclosed, and what evidence exists for physical durability and after-sale protection.
