Their fiscal periods also differ, and the available margin figures do not measure the same thing.
What the latest results show
The latest cited results are from different fiscal periods: Nvidia’s Q2 FY2027 results were released on August 26, 2026, while Broadcom’s Q3 FY2026 results cover the quarter ended August 2, 2026. The companies also label their revenue differently, so the figures should be read with their scope intact.

Broadcom’s AI semiconductor revenue was about 56% of its Q3 FY2026 consolidated revenue, calculated as $16.7 billion divided by $29.6 billion. That percentage describes Broadcom’s reported categories; it does not make its AI semiconductor revenue directly comparable with Nvidia’s company-wide revenue or Data Center segment.
Can Nvidia and Broadcom’s AI revenue be compared?
Not on the available reported figures. Broadcom separately reported AI semiconductor revenue. Nvidia’s cited Q2 FY2027 release reports Data Center revenue, but the supplied figures do not include a standalone AI revenue line. Data Center is a segment label, not an exact synonym for AI revenue, so treating all Nvidia Data Center revenue as AI would overstate what the disclosure establishes.

The companies’ categories capture different business scopes as well. Broadcom combines semiconductor and infrastructure software businesses; Nvidia’s company-wide results include multiple segments. The reported figures support a comparison of disclosed revenue categories, not a definitive ranking of total AI revenue across the companies.
How the fiscal periods and growth figures differ
Nvidia’s fiscal 2026 ended January 25, 2026. Broadcom’s Q3 FY2026 ended August 2, 2026. A fiscal-year label therefore does not mean the companies’ results cover the same calendar period.

Broadcom’s $16.7 billion AI semiconductor figure was up 221% year over year for Q3 FY2026. That growth rate applies to Broadcom’s reported AI semiconductor category, not to all Broadcom revenue or to Nvidia. The cited Nvidia Q2 FY2027 figures establish revenue and gross margin, but do not supply a comparable standalone AI revenue figure here.
Margins: keep gross and operating measures separate
Nvidia reported a 75.0% gross margin for Q2 FY2027. For the full FY2026, Nvidia reported a 71.1% gross margin and $130.4 billion in operating income. These are Nvidia company-wide figures for different reporting periods; the annual margin should not be substituted for the latest quarterly result.

Broadcom’s cited Q2 FY2026 release provided guidance for Q3 FY2026 of a 67% non-GAAP operating margin. This was a forecast, not a reported Q3 result, and it is an operating margin rather than a gross margin. It cannot be compared directly with Nvidia’s reported gross margin. The cited Broadcom Q3 results do not state a gross-margin figure for the quarter.
Even when the same margin type is available, company-wide margins reflect business mix. Broadcom’s combination of semiconductor and infrastructure software revenue differs from Nvidia’s mix of segments. A margin comparison needs the same accounting basis, period, and scope to be meaningful.

At the October 6, 2026 close, Stock Analysis listed Nvidia’s market capitalization at $5.78 trillion and forward P/E at 19.78. For Broadcom, Stock Analysis listed a $1.79 trillion market capitalization and a forward P/E of 21.69. Forward P/E compares a share price with estimated future earnings; it is not a trailing earnings multiple or a reported company result.

A lower forward P/E alone does not establish that a stock is cheaper relative to its growth prospects or less risky.

Broadcom’s Q3 guidance versus its reported result
Broadcom’s Q2 FY2026 release forecast Q3 FY2026 consolidated revenue of $29.4 billion and a 67% non-GAAP operating margin. Its later Q3 FY2026 release reported $29.6 billion in consolidated revenue. The $29.4 billion figure is guidance, not the reported result; the 67% figure is operating-margin guidance and should not be recast as gross margin.
What this comparison can—and cannot—tell investors
- Revenue scale: Nvidia’s cited Q2 FY2027 company-wide revenue was $96.2 billion; Broadcom’s Q3 FY2026 consolidated revenue was $29.6 billion. The periods differ.
- AI revenue: Broadcom disclosed $16.7 billion in Q3 FY2026 AI semiconductor revenue. The cited Nvidia results do not establish a standalone AI revenue figure, so they do not support an exact AI-revenue ranking.
