The GeForce RTX 5060 is the budget-led choice; the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is faster in the cited reviews and gives you twice the video memory. Neither card is guaranteed to be “future-proof”: the right pick depends on current local prices, your games, resolution, settings, and whether the Ti’s extra capacity is worth its price premium.

What changes between the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti?

The RTX 5060 is an 8GB GDDR7 card. The RTX 5060 Ti comes in 8GB and 16GB GDDR7 versions, so “RTX 5060 Ti” alone does not tell you how much memory a listing includes. NVIDIA lists 3,840 CUDA cores and a 2.50 GHz boost clock for the 5060, compared with 4,608 CUDA cores and a 2.57 GHz boost clock for the Ti. These are manufacturer specifications, not a promise of a particular gaming performance gap. NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 family specifications distinguish the two Ti memory configurations.

Model VRAM CUDA cores Boost clock 2025 launch price
RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 3,840 2.50 GHz $299
RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GDDR7 4,608 2.57 GHz $379
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GDDR7 4,608 2.57 GHz $429

The prices in the table are NVIDIA’s 2025 launch prices, not current retail prices. Its April 15, 2025 announcement said the Ti would launch April 16, with the 8GB and 16GB models starting at $379 and $429, respectively. NVIDIA’s launch announcement is useful historical context, but check today’s price and stock in your region before deciding which card is affordable.

How much faster is the RTX 5060 Ti?

Independent review results put the 16GB Ti ahead of the RTX 5060, but the size of the difference varies with the test suite, resolution, and workload.

  • Ars Technica measured the RTX 5060 about 10–25% faster than the RTX 4060 at 1080p and 20–40% faster at 1440p in its 2025 review test suite. Those figures compare the 5060 with the previous-generation 4060; they are not a direct Ti-versus-5060 result. The review used a Ryzen 7 9800X3D test system and RTX 5060-series Game Ready driver 576.52, and noted exceptions, including memory limits in some workloads. Ars Technica’s RTX 5060 review
  • In Ars Technica’s testing, the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB was about 15–20% ahead of the RTX 5060 at 1440p. Ars did not test the Ti 8GB, so those results do not establish how that version compares in every game. Ars Technica’s test results
  • GamersNexus reported the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB was typically 15–25% faster than the RTX 5060 across its tested 1080p, 1440p, and 4K workloads. That range describes its own post-launch tests, not a guaranteed uplift in a game you play. GamersNexus’s RTX 5060 review

For a purchase decision, look for benchmarks of the specific games you play at your intended resolution and settings. Review averages are useful for comparing a general performance tier, but an individual game may behave differently.

Is 8GB of VRAM enough?

It can be enough for some games and settings, but 8GB can constrain performance in others—particularly with higher resolutions or demanding textures. The 16GB Ti offers more room for workloads that exceed 8GB, but extra capacity by itself does not guarantee a fixed frame-rate increase. Performance also depends on the game, settings, and the rest of the graphics card.

  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
  • SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Card
  • Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure

That makes the memory choice a question of what you play and how you configure it, not a simple rule that 8GB always works or always fails. If you are considering either 8GB card, seek out game-specific results at your target resolution and texture settings. If you prefer more memory headroom and the price difference is acceptable, the 16GB Ti is the more accommodating option of these three.

Which card makes more sense for your budget?

Choose the RTX 5060 when the lower price matters most

The RTX 5060 is easiest to justify when you are aiming at 1080p, accept its 8GB capacity, and find it clearly cheaper than the alternatives at current local prices. Its $299 figure was a 2025 launch price; do not treat it as a current deal or assume the card is still available at that price.

Choose the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB when headroom matters

The 16GB Ti is the stronger candidate if you value additional VRAM, expect to use more demanding settings or higher resolutions, and consider its current price premium worthwhile. It was faster than the 5060 in the cited independent reviews, while its 16GB capacity provides more memory headroom. Neither advantage makes it a guarantee against future performance limits.

Evaluate the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB as its own value proposition

The 8GB Ti has the Ti’s listed core count and clock specifications but the same VRAM capacity as the RTX 5060. Its historical $379 launch price sat between the 5060’s $299 and the 16GB Ti’s $429, but launch prices do not establish today’s value. Compare the exact cards’ current prices and game-specific performance rather than assuming the 8GB Ti is automatically the best compromise. Ars Technica did not test this version.

Check the exact card before buying

RTX 5060-family partner cards are not physically identical. Before ordering, verify the memory configuration in the listing, the card’s dimensions against your case clearance, its cooling design, and its available display outputs. Fans, heatsinks, appearance, and outputs can vary by model; the GPU name alone does not establish fit or cooling characteristics. NVIDIA’s specification page describes the family, while the retailer or manufacturer listing should identify the particular partner card.

Also separate conventional rendering benchmarks from frame-rate claims that use DLSS Multi Frame Generation. NVIDIA promotes the RTX 5060 family around Blackwell, GDDR7, ray tracing, and DLSS 4, and says Multi Frame Generation support depends on the title. A generated-frame figure is not directly equivalent to a native-rendering benchmark, so check whether a review result uses the feature and whether your games support it. NVIDIA’s launch announcement describes its DLSS positioning.
