RTX 50-series prices are well above NVIDIA’s US launch prices in several 2026 price checks—but not by the same amount for every model, and no single tracker figure represents every seller or sale. Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 index put the RTX 5090’s best US price at $4,288, compared with its $1,999 launch MSRP. Its figures for the RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070 were less extreme. These are dated market snapshots, not guaranteed prices today.
How much are RTX 50-series cards selling for?
NVIDIA announced US launch prices for four RTX 50-series cards on January 6, 2025. Tom’s Hardware later listed higher “Best US Price” figures for all four in its 2026 index:
| Model | US launch price announced January 6, 2025 | Tom’s Hardware 2026 “Best US Price” | Difference from launch price |
|---|---|---|---|
| GeForce RTX 5090 | $1,999 | $4,288 | $2,289 more; about 114% higher |
| GeForce RTX 5080 | $999 | $1,256 | $257 more; about 26% higher |
| GeForce RTX 5070 Ti | $749 | $949 | $200 more; about 27% higher |
| GeForce RTX 5070 | $549 | $629 | $80 more; about 15% higher |
The launch figures are historical US reference prices announced by NVIDIA; the later figures come from Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 index. A “best price” index is not a report of what every buyer paid, and the MSRP does not guarantee a card was available at that price.
Why the price picture differs by model and tracker
A separate Tom’s Hardware report published August 10, 2026 compared median Newegg listing prices with the outlet’s previous check. It reported the RTX 5070 median up 36% and RTX 5060 up 27%; the RTX 5070 Ti midpoint had not changed since that earlier check. Those percentage changes describe the report’s comparison of Newegg listings, not a rise from launch MSRP or a universal increase across retailers.

That distinction matters: a median listing price, a tracker’s best-price index, and an individual retailer offer measure different things. They can produce different numbers without actually contradicting one another. Tom’s Hardware cited a silicon supply crunch, higher memory costs, and weak below-MSRP discounts as market context, but its reporting does not establish one cause that explains every model’s price.

PC Gamer’s changing graphics-card price-watch page displayed snapshots of $1,654 for the RTX 5080 and $1,150 for the RTX 5070 Ti when accessed October 8, 2026. The page also said the RTX 5090 was unavailable from reputable sellers at that check. These are time-sensitive retailer observations, not fixed market prices; stock, seller, and listed price can change.

How to judge an RTX 50 listing
- Match the exact model. Compare an RTX 5070 listing with the RTX 5070 launch price, not with another card’s MSRP. Board-partner versions can also be distinct listings.
- Compare like with like. Note whether the figure is a median, a tracker’s best US price, or one retailer’s offer. Do not treat these measures as interchangeable.
- Check who is selling it and its condition. Confirm the seller, whether the card is new or used, and whether the listing is actually available.
- Record the date and market. The figures above are US-dollar observations from 2026 sources; prices in another country or on another date may differ.
