Ear ID personalizes listening
Nuheara describes Ear ID as an in-app assessment used to personalize listening. Its app listing identifies Ear ID as a feature for BOOST and MAX and says a compatible IQbuds device is required. SINC adjusts the listening situation
Nuheara calls SINC “Speech in Noise Control” and describes it as a way to adjust listening for different situations, including focusing on direct conversation in noisy environments. This is the company’s description of the feature’s purpose; it does not establish that it will suppress every kind of background sound or make every voice easier to understand. Nuheara’s IQbuds2 MAX product page describes Ear ID and SINC.
What published performance evidence is available?
In Nuheara’s 2022 IQbuds 2 PRO 510(k) submission, hosted in the U.S. FDA database, the company reported an APHAB assessment involving 43 subjects. The submission reported that aided mean scores improved by 17.8 points for ease of communication in noise, 7.4 points in quiet and 8.2 points in reverberation, out of 100; the reported global improvement was 11 points. The FDA-hosted submission identifies these as results for IQbuds 2 PRO.

These figures come from Nuheara’s submission, not an independent hands-on test for this article or an FDA finding that every IQbuds model will produce those outcomes. They describe one model’s assessment and should not be treated as a prediction for an individual wearer.
What does the FDA record say—and what does it not cover?
The FDA database lists Nuheara IQbuds 2 PRO as a “Self-Fitting Air-Conduction Hearing Aid, Over The Counter.” Its 510(k) number is K221064, and the record gives a substantial-equivalence decision date of October 30, 2022. The FDA 510(k) record is for IQbuds 2 PRO alone. It does not establish the same regulatory status for IQbuds, BOOST or IQbuds2 MAX.

Are IQbuds a substitute for hearing care?
No. Nuheara’s hearing-health guide says IQbuds and BOOST are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or mitigate disease and lists persistent hearing impairment and certain medical conditions for which those models are not intended as an aid. The guide also distinguishes BOOST and 2 MAX from a hearing aid. Nuheara’s hearing-health guide sets out those intended-use limits. If you have a hearing concern, use appropriate professional care rather than assuming consumer earbuds can diagnose or treat it.
What should owners know about the app experience?
The app listing showed a 3.4 rating from 1.04K reviews when accessed. User feedback includes positive hearing-use experiences as well as complaints about connection or feature performance. These are individual reports, not representative testing or a failure rate, and may concern different models or older device and app combinations. The listing also notes Android 15 support and bug-fix and stability updates; compatibility and app support can change, so check the current listing for your phone before relying on it. Verdict: what can a buyer reasonably expect?
IQbuds have a clearly stated aim: personalize listening and offer situational controls intended to support conversation in noise. Nuheara’s reported 2 PRO assessment offers a model-specific signal that scores improved, but it cannot establish the same result for other IQbuds models or guarantee a benefit in an individual’s surroundings. Treat the product name, intended use and evidence as model-specific, and verify app compatibility for the exact earbuds and phone combination.
