It provides 64 pads and dedicated controls for sequencing, playing notes, managing Patterns, navigating the Channel Rack, mixing, and Graph Edit. Its custom FL Studio integration requires desktop FL Studio 26.1.6 or later; it is not supported in FL Studio Web or Mobile.
What FLpad is designed to do
Co-developed with Image-Line, FLpad puts several common FL Studio tasks on a hardware grid. Its listed views are Sequencer, Note, Patterns, Channel Rack, Channel Rack Mixer, Graph Edit, and up to four Custom Modes. The design centers on the Channel Rack and Patterns rather than offering full control of every FL Studio area.
Novation lists 16 dedicated workflow buttons. Their shift functions include Clone Loop, octave up and down, Pattern Length, Channel Rack mutes and pan, tempo, redo, quantise, and Score Log. For the product’s workflow overview and FAQs, see Novation’s FLpad integration page.
FLpad and FLpad Mini compared
The main choice is between larger, velocity-sensitive pads for expressive performance and smaller, fixed-velocity pads for a more compact setup.

These specifications come from Novation’s FLpad product page and FLpad Mini specifications. Neither model includes a power supply. Novation positions the full-size version for more expressive finger drumming and melodic playing, while the Mini favors compactness and step sequencing.
Check FL Studio compatibility before buying
The dedicated control scripts require desktop FL Studio 26.1.6 or later. Novation’s support article, dated October 1, 2026, says neither FLpad nor FLpad Mini is supported in FL Studio Web or Mobile. If you use an older desktop release, update to the required version before relying on the custom integration. See Novation’s FL Studio setup instructions for version and configuration details.

Connection and setup
FLpad connects over USB-C and draws power from the computer or USB connection. Novation expects FL Studio to detect the controller and configure its scripts automatically. If you need to set it up manually, follow the operating-system-specific port instructions in Novation’s support article:
- Connect FLpad to the computer using the included USB-C-to-A cable.
- In FL Studio’s MIDI settings, identify the controller’s ports. Novation’s instructions refer to MIDI and MIDIIn2 on Windows, and MIDI and DAW on macOS.
- Select the matching Novation FLpad MIDI and DAW controller entries. Assign ports that are unique and nonzero, as specified by Novation.
Novation Components can update firmware and configure the hardware. Its FLpad Components guide describes custom-mode widgets for keystrokes, faders, note layouts, Program Change messages, and MIDI CC buttons. Components is available as a standalone app or as a Web MIDI app in supported browsers, including Chrome, Opera, and Edge.

What FLpad does—and does not—replace
FLpad is focused on Channel Rack sequencing and Pattern control; Novation says current integration covers Patterns rather than the Playlist view. It is not a piano-style keyboard. Novation points users who want keys and broader FL Studio control toward FLkey, and those seeking deeper integration with other DAWs such as Ableton or Logic toward the Launchpad range.
Custom Modes offer generic MIDI control with other MIDI-capable software or hardware, but that is different from the dedicated FL Studio scripts. Novation also says FLpad can send polyphonic aftertouch data through Custom Modes; FL Studio does not support polyphonic aftertouch by default. FLpad and FLkey can be used together.

Launch pricing and included software
MusicRadar’s October 1, 2026 launch report listed launch prices of $219.99 / £179.99 / €168.06 for FLpad and $139.99 / £99.99 / €92.43 for FLpad Mini. These are launch-reported figures, not verified current retailer prices; regional tax, shipping, stock, and later price changes may affect what you pay.
The launch report also described six months of FL Studio Producer Edition and instruments and effects from UVI, GForce, and Klevgrand. Novation’s product pages name UVI Prime 8+, Klevgrand Slammer and LUXE, GForce synthesizers, and Melodics lessons among the included software.
