Nothing Phone (3) puts AI tools such as Essential Search and Essential Space at the center of the experience, but the newest features are arriving in stages. As of October 4, 2026, Nothing lists Phone (3) as a current product and describes additional tools in its staged Nothing OS 5.0 rollout—not a future phone launch.
What AI features does Nothing Phone (3) have?
Essential Search and Essential Space
Nothing’s Phone (3) product page lists Essential Search and describes the phone’s AI engine. Essential Space is a separate capture-and-organization tool: users can collect material on the phone and organize it, with newer OS 5.0 features intended to make those captures easier to find and use.
Nothing’s performance claim
Nothing says Phone (3) delivers 60% better AI performance than Phone (2). That is the manufacturer’s comparison, not an independently measured benchmark, so it should not be read as a guarantee of a particular speed or quality improvement in everyday use.
What does Nothing OS 5.0 add?
Nothing describes OS 5.0 as combining Android 17 changes and design updates with additional Essential AI tools. Its OS 5.0 feature page describes the following additions:

- Essential Apps: lets users describe an app in natural language and build it without coding, then launch it from the phone’s home screen. Nothing describes the builder as an early beta, not a finished feature available to everyone.
When will the OS 5.0 features arrive on Phone (3)?
Nothing’s schedule, as stated on its OS 5.0 page on October 4, 2026, separates the main OS rollout from updates to Essential Space and the gradual availability of Essential Apps Builder.
| Feature or release | Nothing’s stated timing for Phone (3) | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing OS 5.0 open beta | August 26, 2026 | Nothing lists this as the beta start date; beta access is not the same as a stable release. |
| Nothing OS 5.0 general release | Mid-October 2026 | A target, not a guaranteed date. Nothing says timing is indicative and rollout is phased by region and carrier where applicable. |
| Essential Space MCP support | Planned around October 2026 | Listed separately from the main OS rollout. |
| Redesigned Essential Space capture experience | Starting November 2026 | Also staged separately from the OS rollout. |
| Real-time Essential Voice translation | Later in 2026 | Nothing does not give a specific date on the page. |
| Essential Apps Builder | Early beta; access rolling out gradually | Users without access can join the waitlist described by Nothing. |
These dates are Nothing’s published schedule, not a promise that every Phone (3) owner will receive each feature on the same day. Check Nothing’s OS 5.0 page for current regional rollout information; the company says timing can change.

Is a charger needed for the AI features?
No. Nothing lists 15W wireless charging for Phone (3) and says the phone can wirelessly charge accessories, but it does not make a wireless charger a requirement for Essential Search, Essential Space, or OS 5.0. A compatible 15W wireless charger is an optional accessory; confirm device compatibility and current availability with the seller.
