WIRED reported on October 6, 2026, that Nothing Headphone (1) was $189 on Amazon, down from a $299 sticker price. That is a dated deal report, not confirmation that the price or stock is still available on October 7. If the offer remains live, the headphones are worth considering for their tactile physical controls and distinctive transparent design—not if your top priority is the strongest noise cancellation or sound available from a flagship model.
What was the reported Prime Day deal?
WIRED’s October 6, 2026, deal article listed Nothing Headphone (1) at $189 on Amazon, $110 below its $299 sticker price, and called it the model’s lowest price ever. That lowest-ever description is WIRED’s claim in that dated article. Check the current Amazon listing for both price and availability before buying; neither is established by the October 6 report for October 7.
What makes Nothing Headphone (1) different?
Physical controls instead of relying only on touch
WIRED describes a wheel for volume, playback, and noise-canceling modes, a rocker for track navigation, and separate physical controls for power, Bluetooth pairing, and voice assistance. The tactile layout is a central reason the headphones stood out to WIRED commerce editor Harry Rabinowitz, who wrote: “The Headphone (1) is one of my favorites for its stylish design, tactile on-ear controls, and fun sound.”
Transparent design and listening modes
Nothing Headphone (1) is the company’s first over-ear headphone model, launched in 2025. WIRED highlights its transparent design, noise cancellation, transparency mode, and sound. Those descriptions reflect the article’s assessment rather than a controlled comparison with other headphones.

What should you expect from the battery and noise cancellation?
WIRED reports up to 35 hours of battery life with noise cancellation enabled. The article material available here does not provide a separate test method for that figure, so treat it as the published battery-life claim, not an independently verified runtime measurement.
WIRED also says the model does not match the noise cancellation and sound of more expensive flagship headphones from Sony, Bose, and Apple. The deal article does not establish a measured performance gap or a controlled ranking, so the practical takeaway is simply that buyers prioritizing flagship-level noise cancellation or sound may prefer to compare those higher-end models before choosing.

How does it compare with the alternatives named in the deal?
| Model | What the deal article establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing Headphone (1) | Reported at $189 on Amazon on October 6, 2026, against a $299 sticker price; WIRED highlights physical controls, transparent design, noise cancellation, transparency mode, and sound. | Whether that price or stock is still available on October 7, or a controlled comparison against the alternatives. |
| Sony WH-1000XM5 | Named by WIRED as another deal option and as an example of a more expensive flagship model. | A current price, deal amount, or quantified performance comparison in the article. |
| Bose QuietComfort Headphones (1st Gen) | Named by WIRED as another deal option and as an example of a more expensive flagship model. | A current price, deal amount, or quantified performance comparison in the article. |
Who should consider buying at the reported price?
- Consider them if you want over-ear headphones with prominent physical controls and a design that looks different from conventional headphones, and the live price is still attractive to you.
- Compare alternatives first if the best possible noise cancellation or sound is more important than the design and control style; WIRED says more expensive flagship models from Sony, Bose, and Apple do better on those priorities.
- Check the deal details before placing an order, since the $189 figure and availability were reported on October 6 rather than verified for the following day.
