NMDC dividend eligibility depends on the record date for the specific dividend, not on a past year’s cutoff. NMDC’s FY 2025–26 interim dividend of ₹2.50 per share had an exchange-listed ex-date and record date of 13 February 2026. The separate ₹1 final dividend was recommended subject to shareholder approval; NMDC’s notice set 5 October 2026 as its record date, but the final dividend’s ex-date should be verified against an authoritative exchange listing.

Which NMDC dividend are you checking?

NMDC Limited can declare more than one dividend for a financial year. The amount, approval status, record date and ex-date belong to a particular corporate action, so check the financial year and whether the dividend is interim or final before relying on a date.

Dividend action Amount per share Date and status
FY 2025–26 first interim dividend ₹2.50 Exchange circular listed 13 February 2026 as both ex-date and record date; completed action. India International Exchange corporate actions
FY 2025–26 final dividend ₹1 Recommended on 29 May 2026, subject to shareholder approval. NMDC’s notice set 5 October 2026 as the record date if approved; confirm approval and payment status in the company’s latest disclosures. NMDC investor relations
FY 2024–25 final dividend ₹1 Historical action: NMDC set 14 August 2025 as the record date, subject to approval at its 67th AGM. This date has passed and does not determine eligibility for another dividend. NMDC investor relations

For the FY 2025–26 final dividend, NMDC’s 24 August 2026 notice establishes the record date but does not independently confirm an exchange ex-date. A surfaced calendar labels 5 October as the ex-date, while an exchange listing showed an inconsistent 12 August entry. Treat neither as a definitive exchange-confirmed ex-date; check the current exchange corporate-action record for NMDC before trading on the basis of dividend entitlement.

How do you qualify for an NMDC dividend?

The record date is the date the company uses to identify members entitled to a particular dividend. The associated ex-dividend date is the trading cutoff for that entitlement. A buyer on or after the ex-date generally should not assume they will receive that dividend. The applicable exchange dates and settlement rules for the specific action matter.

  1. Identify the exact dividend: financial year, interim or final, and amount.
  2. Read NMDC’s notice for the record date and any conditions, such as shareholder approval for a proposed final dividend.
  3. Check the corresponding exchange corporate action for the ex-date and later changes. Do not infer a new date from an older dividend.
  4. If you trade near the cutoff, confirm the current rules and dates with your broker or the exchange rather than relying on a general date rule.

For the FY 2025–26 interim dividend, the exchange circular explicitly listed 13 February 2026 as both the ex-date and record date. The FY 2025–26 final dividend has a company-announced 5 October 2026 record date in the cited notice, conditional on approval, but its ex-date requires authoritative exchange confirmation.

Is NMDC dividend taxable?

Dividend income is taxable in the shareholder’s hands. Tax deducted at source (TDS) is withholding credited against tax; it does not necessarily equal the investor’s final tax rate or total liability. The applicable treatment depends on the tax year, residency, PAN, total dividend income and, for some non-resident investors, treaty eligibility and paperwork.

NMDC’s 2025 AGM notice described withholding under the Income-tax Act, 1961 framework then cited. It stated 10% TDS for resident shareholders with a valid PAN and 20% for residents without a valid PAN, subject to rates notified by the government. It also described no withholding for a resident individual when expected aggregate dividends from the company in the financial year did not exceed ₹5,000, and qualifying Form 15G/Form 15H or other prescribed lower- or nil-withholding documents. PAN was required for the declarations or documents described in that notice. These are the notice’s stated rules, not a guarantee of the rate applicable to every later payment.

The Income Tax Department’s Section 194 text states a 10% resident-dividend withholding rate and a no-deduction provision for an individual where the qualifying dividend is paid otherwise than in cash and the relevant aggregate in the financial year does not exceed ₹5,000. Check the provision and conditions applicable to the actual payment: Income Tax Department: Income-tax Act.

Non-resident shareholders

NMDC’s notice described withholding for non-residents under Sections 195 and other applicable provisions at 20% plus applicable surcharge and cess, or notified rates. It also described the possibility of a more beneficial tax-treaty rate under Section 90, subject to the investor’s circumstances and documents, including PAN, a tax residency certificate, Form 10F and declarations. The actual treaty rate and eligibility require individual review; the notice does not establish a universal rate for all non-residents.

Which tax year includes the dividend?

The Income-tax Act, 2025 Section 7 says dividends are treated as income in the tax year in which they are declared, distributed or paid. For interim dividends, it specifies the year in which the amount is unconditionally made available to the entitled member. NMDC’s older AGM tax disclosure cites the 1961 Act, so use the law and rules applicable to the specific payment and tax year rather than treating that notice as a timeless statement. What if an NMDC dividend was never claimed?

NMDC’s AGM notice says unpaid or unclaimed dividends are transferred to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) after seven years. It directs shareholders whose dividend or shares have moved to IEPF to apply through Form IEPF-5 and send the required signed physical documents to the company. Check the current form instructions and your account status, or contact NMDC or its registrar and transfer agent, before submitting a claim. IEPF Form IEPF-5
