How do I fix a Nintendo Switch 2 download that is stuck or paused?
Close active software, refresh the download from your user page, and restart if needed. Nintendo says, “Downloads will pause for some games and software that is currently being played,” so a paused download does not by itself mean the eShop or game file is broken. This is why closing a running game is a better first move than deleting the download or changing storage.
- Close the running game or software. Save your progress first. On the HOME Menu, highlight the software’s icon and press X to close it. A game left running can pause a download. Do not assume the download will continue just because you returned to the HOME Menu; close the software itself.
- Refresh the download status. Open the user page from the HOME Menu, choose User Settings, then select Update Download Progress. Check whether the download resumes. This is the designated first refresh action, not a reason to remove the title and start over.
- Restart the console if it remains stuck. After restarting, wait for the Switch 2 to reconnect to the internet. Give the download a chance to resume before launching another game or other software that might pause it. If it begins moving, leave other software closed while it completes.
- If it is progressing slowly rather than stopped, test the internet connection. A slow download calls for checking network-related causes; repeating the refresh step alone may not address the underlying connection.
These steps apply whether the title is free or paid: the initial checks concern download state, active software, and connectivity. A free game is not exempt from being paused by active software. Do not jump straight to deleting the game when the console may simply have paused its download.

How do I fix “Nintendo Switch 2 not enough space”?
Compare the space available on the console or card with the requirement shown for that specific game. Storage needs differ by title, and Nintendo says the requirement is shown in the eShop or on the physical game package. Do not use another game’s requirement as a substitute: titles and their updates or DLC can need different amounts of room.
