The small top module has two USB-C ports and wireless connectivity; most of the wired ports—and a bay for another M.2 SSD—are in the base. That distinction matters if you want to detach the computer from a desk setup: the module is easier to move, but it does not carry the base’s full selection of connections with it.
How the MBOX 8 Pro is split up
HotHardware and Liliputing describe the MBOX 8 Pro as a two-part system. The upper module contains the processor and core components, while a magnetically attached base expands connectivity and provides room for an additional M.2 SSD. The base is designed for this Ninkear system; the reports do not establish that it works as a universal dock for other computers.
HotHardware describes the unit as roughly four inches (10 cm) square. Liliputing reports dimensions of 99 × 99 × 37 mm for the top module and 99 × 99 × 25 mm for the base, or 65 mm high together, with a combined weight of 483 g. These are reported specifications, not independent measurements. Liliputing also describes active fan cooling and a plastic body with ventilated metal mesh. HotHardware’s April 1, 2025 report and Liliputing’s March 24, 2025 report provide the product details.
Which ports are on the computer module?
HotHardware reports that the top module itself has two 10-Gbps USB Type-C ports, plus Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Its report notes that someone using the module without the base would otherwise depend on Bluetooth peripherals or add a USB hub for more I/O.

Which ports come with the magnetic base?
Attach the base to access the broader wired selection reported by HotHardware and Liliputing:
- One HDMI 2.0 port
- One DisplayPort 1.2 port
- Two USB 3.2 Type-A ports
- Two USB 2.0 Type-A ports
- One 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet port and one Gigabit Ethernet port
- One 3.5 mm audio jack
The base also has space for a second M.2 SSD. The reports do not specify a compatible drive model, so check the manufacturer’s compatibility information before choosing storage. The additional bay is useful only if you intend to install and configure another drive.

What the modular design means in practice
At a desk, the base can keep monitors, USB accessories, wired networking, and audio connected while the top module remains the computer. Separating the module may make it more convenient to move the computer elsewhere, but doing so also leaves behind the base’s ports and extra SSD bay. The reports describe the configuration, not how often buyers will find that separation worthwhile.
HotHardware said in April 2025 that Ninkear had discussed other docks for the MBOX 8, but those docks did not appear to exist at that time. That publication-time observation does not establish what is available today.

Reported configuration and performance evidence
Liliputing reports that the top module in the described configuration includes 32GB of DDR5-6400 memory and a 1TB PCIe 3.0 SSD. HotHardware says the default package at publication included those capacities and Windows 11 Pro, alongside the Ryzen 7 8845HS. Treat these as descriptions of the reported configuration rather than a guarantee about every current listing or package.
The Ryzen 7 8845HS identifies the processor, but the cited reports do not provide benchmark scores, controlled gaming tests, thermal or noise measurements, or sustained-load results. HotHardware’s performance language is an editorial characterization, not a substitute for measured results. Buyers who need evidence about specific workloads should look for testing of this exact system and configuration.

Historical prices and availability
Prices in the 2025 reports are historical, not current offers. HotHardware listed $635 at Banggood as its US recommendation and $718 from Ninkear for European buyers, with EU tax and shipping included; Liliputing reported approximately $635 and $719, respectively. The figures differ slightly between reports and should not be treated as present-day pricing.
The Banggood listing retrieved for this article shows zero stock and an arrival-notice status. That does not establish current availability or pricing from Ninkear, and the available evidence does not confirm a live Amazon listing. Check the seller’s current product page and verify the exact model, configuration, package contents, and stock before buying. Banggood’s MBOX 8 Pro listing is the page reporting the out-of-stock status.
