It is worth considering if you want a neutral, race-focused shoe and do not need substantial stability support; try it before race day if fit or heel security is a concern.
What the SuperComp Elite v6 is
New Balance positions the SC Elite v6 as a race-day road shoe. It combines a full carbon-fiber plate with the brand’s Infinion midsole foam. New Balance says the plate is thicker and stiffer toward the forefoot, while the foam is designed to provide race-ready cushioning and energy return. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not evidence that every runner will run faster in it.
The US product pages describe neutral support, soft cushioning, an 8 mm drop, an ultra-thin outsole intended for race traction, and a translucent lightweight mesh upper with FantomFit bonded support. The men’s page lists 198 g (7 oz); the women’s page lists 154 g (5.4 oz). These are page-listed weights for their respective product and sizing contexts, not a same-size comparison.
How it feels on the run
Propulsion and stiffness
Doctors of Running reviewers describe the shoe as light, stiff and propulsive, with a more pronounced rocker-driven feel than the v5. They do not agree on its ideal race distance: one sees it as suitable from 5K through the marathon for runners without significant stability needs, while another is more cautious about marathon use and favors faster runners or shorter races. That difference is a reminder that distance suitability depends on the runner, not just the shoe’s race-day label.

Cushioning and foam response
New Balance calls the Infinion foam soft and designed for energy return. Meta Endurance offers a less favorable impression, saying the foam bottoms out under load in that reviewer’s experience. Treat these as differing assessments of ride feel rather than a universal verdict: body weight, pace, stride and preference can affect whether a soft racing shoe feels lively or overly compressed.
Traction
RunRepeat measured a wet-concrete traction coefficient of 0.70 for its test sample, compared with the 0.53 shoe average it cites, and rated the grip positively. That is a lab result under its test conditions, not a guarantee across every wet surface. New Balance describes the outsole as ultra-thin and intended for race traction.

- FuelCell foam delivers a propulsive feel to help drive you forward, ideal for road running shoes for men seeking speed and efficiency
- Years of research went into perfecting the SuperComp Elite v5 containing a FuelCell midsole made with PEBA
- Energy Arc pairs sport-specific carbon fiber plate geometry with strategic midsole voids, designed to increase stored energy to deliver a higher amount of total energy returned, great for track shoes for men who need peak performance
- Rocker profile for smooth, natural feeling transition from heel to toe, supporting long-distance runners and fans for lightweight running shoes
- Solid rubber outsole
Fit and stability are the main cautions
Fit impressions vary. Doctors of Running reviewers found the toe box comparatively accommodating for a racer, but noted a narrow midfoot and rearfoot platform; they also mention possible tongue folding. Meta Endurance describes the upper as broad enough that it may not suit everyone. Since these are reviewer impressions, not a standardized fit measurement, trying the shoe on is especially useful if you need a particular width.
Stability is a more consistent concern across the reviews. RunRepeat flags an unstable heel, and Doctors of Running describes a narrow midfoot/rearfoot platform. The shoe is neutral rather than a stability-guidance model. Runners who rely on a broad base or who have experienced heel instability should test it at easy and race pace before committing to a race.

Weight, stack and price: keep the measurements in context
| Figure | Source and qualification |
|---|---|
| 198 g (7 oz) | New Balance US men’s product page; listed product weight, with size context not specified on the page. |
| 154 g (5.4 oz) | New Balance US women’s product page; listed product weight, with size context not specified on the page. |
| 190 g (6.7 oz) | RunRepeat’s 2026 review measurement; its sample-size detail is not established here, so it is not directly comparable with the manufacturer listing. |
| 32.0 mm and 24.6 mm | RunRepeat says the manufacturer’s 32.0 mm stack figure matched its own measurement farther back in the midfoot, while it measured 24.6 mm at the point it identifies as the World Athletics forefoot measurement point. This is the reviewer’s measurement interpretation, not a regulatory ruling. |
New Balance’s US men’s page displayed a price of $274.99 on October 4, 2026. Prices and stock can change. RunRepeat’s 2026 comparison table listed the v6 at $275, the v5 at $265, and the Brooks Hyperion Elite 5 and HOKA Cielo X1 3.0 at $275; those are that review’s price snapshots, not current market quotes. New Balance Japan announced an August 6, 2026 release at ¥31,900 including tax for both men’s and women’s models. That is a Japan-specific launch and price, not a US release date or price.
How it compares with the SuperComp Elite v5
Doctors of Running describes the v6 as more responsive and more rockered or propulsive than the v5, while finding the v5 less aggressive and similarly comfortable in fit. If you liked the v5’s calmer feel, the newer model’s stronger racing character may not be an automatic upgrade for you. RunRepeat’s scores and comparison prices are one publisher’s assessment rather than a definitive ranking of the two shoes.

Who should consider it—and who should look elsewhere
- Consider it if you want a light, stiff, neutral road racer with a forceful forefoot feel and you are comfortable without substantial stability guidance.
- Try it carefully if heel security, midfoot width, tongue movement or a particular width has been an issue in other shoes.
- Compare alternatives if you prefer a broad, stable platform, dislike a stiff or rockered ride, or want cushioning that does not feel compressed under load.
- Do not choose by distance or pace alone: Doctors of Running reviewers differ on marathon suitability, and the available evidence does not establish a universal distance or speed threshold.
RunRepeat scored the shoe 87/100, calling it a substantial improvement over earlier Elite versions while still placing it slightly behind some top competitors in its assessment. That score is useful context, not a substitute for deciding whether the fit and ride work for you.
