What is the New Balance 1080v15?
New Balance positions the 1080v15 as an everyday running shoe. In practice, it is a cushioned, neutral road trainer aimed at runners who want one comfortable shoe for regular miles rather than a specialist racer or speed-work shoe. Doctors of Running likewise classifies it as a premium neutral daily trainer.
The main update is the midsole: the v15 replaces the Fresh Foam X used on recent prior models with Infinion. Runner’s World describes the new foam as supercritical TPEE and TPU-based. Reviews generally characterize the result as more resilient or lively, and lighter than the v14. Those are reviewer impressions, not a guarantee that every runner will prefer the new ride. Daily and easy runs
Comfortable everyday running is the shoe’s clearest strength. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer used it for easy runs, a long run, and easy-to-steady progression runs, finding it comfortable and more versatile than some highly cushioned shoes. Doctors of Running also describes a cushioned, resilient ride.

Long runs
The 1080v15 can work for long runs, but the evidence does not make it an unconditional long-distance choice. RTINGS reports good cushioning overall while identifying reduced forefoot cushioning as a tradeoff on longer efforts. That matters most if you prioritize a consistently protective feel under the forefoot as fatigue builds.
Tempo and speed sessions
Some runners may find the shoe capable of picking up the pace, but it is not the strongest choice for dedicated speed work. RTINGS points to limited snap and forward roll; Tom’s Guide found it less compelling for tempo and speed sessions. Its lively feel should not be mistaken for the quick turnover of a purpose-built workout shoe.

The differences do not necessarily indicate an error: a manufacturer’s listed weight, a reviewer’s shoe, and a lab sample can involve different sizes and methods. Use the figures as source-specific context rather than assuming your pair will match every published number.

How does the 1080v15 fit?
Fit reports are mixed. Tom’s Guide suggests ordering a normal running-shoe size, and Runner’s World reports that its wear-testers liked the upper fit. Doctors of Running describes a roomy knit upper and notes that the fit can feel slightly sloppy.
If your feet are low-volume, or you need a particularly secure lockdown, try the shoe on if possible and assess heel hold and midfoot security at your usual running pace. A reviewer’s sizing experience cannot settle how the shoe will fit your foot.

How does it compare with the 1080v14 and other New Balance shoes?
Compared with the v14, the defining change is Infinion replacing Fresh Foam X. Reviewers describe the v15 as lighter and livelier, but the impression of an improved ride is subjective; choose based on how the new foam feels to you rather than the version number alone. Tom’s Guide reported historical launch prices of $170 / £170 for the v15 and $165 / £160 for the v14. Those are launch figures, not current prices.

Should you buy the New Balance 1080v15?
It makes sense if your priority is a cushioned, comfortable neutral shoe for everyday road miles and easier runs, and you like the fit after trying it. Look elsewhere if you chiefly want a sharp tempo or speed-work shoe, or if your long-run comfort depends on especially protective forefoot cushioning. Runners who need more guidance should compare a support-oriented model rather than assuming a neutral shoe will provide it.
Tom’s Guide reported a global launch date of 15 January 2026 and launch pricing of $170 / £170. Those figures are historical; current prices, stock, sizes, and colors vary by market and date. Check the New Balance 1080v15 listing for official product details and current regional availability.
Runner’s World reports that New Balance wanted “your 100th run to feel like your first run.” It is a brand aspiration about lasting comfort, not independent proof of durability. Neither limited reviewer use nor RunRepeat’s outsole wear test establishes how many miles an individual pair will last.
