What kind of router is the R6700AX?
NETGEAR identifies the R6700AX as a four-stream AX1800 router using Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) over two bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Its rated maximum link rates are up to 600 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 1,200 Mbps on 5 GHz, which combine to the AX1800 class rating. These are theoretical wireless rates, not a promise of 1.8 Gbps internet speed; actual performance depends on your internet plan, client devices, distance, interference, and other conditions. Does it support Wi-Fi 6E or 6 GHz?
No. The R6700AX is dual-band and lists only 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz operation. It is not a Wi-Fi 6E router and does not provide a 6 GHz band.

Will it suit your home?
NETGEAR recommends the router for small-to-medium homes and rates coverage at up to 1,500 square feet, with guidance for 20 or more connected devices. Those are manufacturer figures, not guaranteed results: NETGEAR notes that coverage and throughput vary with building construction, network traffic, and environmental conditions. A large or multi-floor home, difficult wall materials, or heavy simultaneous use may call for a different placement or a mesh system rather than relying on one router.
When assessing fit, account for the internet speed you pay for, the Wi-Fi capabilities of your devices, the area and layout to cover, and how many devices are active at once. The combined AX1800 rating should not be treated as a speed test or as the speed any single device will receive.

Also compare current prices and account for any optional security or parental-control charges.
