The global rollout began May 19, 2025, on eligible TVs and TV streaming devices; Netflix says most devices qualify, but not all. You can tell the new experience is active if shortcuts appear at the top of your Netflix screen.
What changed on Netflix’s TV homepage?
Netflix announced the redesign on May 7, 2025, describing it as a more flexible homepage for its expanding entertainment offering. The changes affect the Netflix app’s TV interface—not the television itself.
Shortcuts moved to the top
The new top menu includes shortcuts for TV shows, movies, games, My Netflix, and profiles. Netflix initially called out Search and My List as shortcuts moving from the left side of the screen to the top. Its current Help Center describes the broader set of destinations available in the top menu.
My Netflix collects saved and in-progress items
My Netflix is a hub for items connected to what you have saved or engaged with, including My List, Continue Watching, reminders, watched trailers, and downloaded content. What appears can depend on your activity.

More title details appear before playback
While browsing, the homepage can show a title’s synopsis, runtime, key cast, previews, and contextual callouts such as awards or Top 10 placement. The idea is to give you more context before you start watching.
Recommendations can respond to your actions
Netflix says homepage rows can update after actions such as watching a trailer, adding a title to My List, or rating a title. The company presents this as a way to make recommendations more responsive to current interests; it has not established that every viewer will find titles more easily.

Where did Categories and New & Popular go?
Netflix removed Categories and New & Popular as menu shortcuts. You can still browse by genre through Search. For new or trending titles, look for the New on Netflix and Top 10 rows on the homepage. Netflix’s TV experience and layout Help Center page explains these routes.
How to tell whether your TV has the new experience
- Open Netflix on your TV or TV streaming device.
- Look at the top of the screen for menu shortcuts such as TV shows, movies, games, My Netflix, and profiles.
- If those shortcuts are there, the new experience is active. If they are absent, your device may not yet support the redesign or may not have received it.
Netflix says the new experience is available on most TVs and TV streaming devices. Devices that do not meet its technical requirements continue to use the older experience, and the company says it will add more devices over time. Netflix has not published a complete model-by-model eligibility list, so the on-screen menu is the practical check.

When did the rollout begin, and how widely was it used?
Netflix announced the redesign on May 7, 2025, and said its global rollout would begin May 19 on eligible TVs and TV streaming devices, with more devices to follow in the coming weeks. Netflix’s May 19 user guide confirmed the rollout had begun. In its Q2 2025 shareholder letter, Netflix reported that roughly 50% of members had used the new experience. That is a company-reported usage figure, not a measure of satisfaction or proof that discovery improved.
Netflix later said in its 2025 annual shareholder letter that the redesigned TV experience had rolled out during 2025. It described the interface capabilities as supporting a broader entertainment offering that includes video podcasts, live events, and games; that statement does not mean every device supports every content type.

How the TV redesign differs from the mobile announcement
The May 7 announcement also mentioned an opt-in beta for natural-language generative-AI search on iOS and a planned test of a vertical feed of Netflix clips on mobile. Those were separate mobile developments, not features of the redesigned TV homepage. Netflix’s announcement does not establish their present availability.

Netflix Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim described the company’s positioning this way: “The new Netflix TV experience is still the one you know and love — just better.” She also said the design goal was “more flexible for our broad entertainment offerings, more intuitive and responsive to our members’ needs, and capable of elevating the most thrilling moments on Netflix.” These are statements of Netflix’s aims, rather than independent findings about how the redesign performs for viewers.
