Google says it improves text rendering, multilingual image work, and consistency across reference images. Those are improvements, not a guarantee: generated images can still misspell words, alter details, or get facts wrong. And as of Google’s February 2026 announcement, Nano Banana 2 replaced Pro across Gemini app modes, although eligible AI Pro and Ultra subscribers could still reach Pro for specialized tasks by regenerating an image.
What Nano Banana Pro is—and what it improves
Nano Banana Pro is built on Gemini 3 Pro. In the Gemini API, its model ID is gemini-3-pro-image. Google positions it as a model for complex visual tasks, including image generation and editing, with an emphasis on detailed compositions, text, and working from reference images. Google’s launch announcement and its official model page describe those capabilities.
The important distinction is between a stronger capability and a dependable result. Google reports better legibility and consistency, but also warns that outputs may contain spelling errors, weak fine details, small-face problems, and factual inaccuracies. Treat a generated image as a draft to inspect, not a finished source of truth.
Does Nano Banana Pro spell text correctly?
It is designed to render legible text more effectively than earlier image-generation approaches, including text in mockups, posters, and localized images. Google also describes multilingual text generation and translation of text embedded in an image while preserving its style or layout. These features can make it more useful for concept work and visual drafts.

They do not ensure exact spelling or faithful reproduction. Inspect every word, especially small labels, dense copy, names, numbers, and text in languages you cannot read. For public-facing graphics, replace or correct any generated lettering in a design editor before publishing.
How consistent is it with people and reference images?
Google says Nano Banana Pro can blend as many as 14 standard image inputs and maintain the resemblance of up to five people. Its developer announcement also describes an input capability for six high-fidelity shots. These are advertised capabilities, not promises that every face, pose, outfit, or detail will remain identical in every generation. Google’s developer announcement describes the reference-image features.
For a project requiring a recurring character or person, use clear reference images and review each output for changes in identity and details. Do not assume that a successful first image guarantees continuity in a later one.
Can you trust its diagrams, infographics, or current information?
Google says the model can use Gemini reasoning and world knowledge for context-rich visuals such as educational visualizations, diagrams, and infographics. Its launch materials also describe grounding with Google Search for timely subjects such as weather or sports. Grounding can inform an image, but it does not certify that the final graphic is correct.

Verify every date, label, statistic, map detail, and factual relationship against reliable primary sources before using a data-heavy visual. This matters especially when an image compresses information into a chart or diagram: a polished appearance can make an error harder to notice, not less consequential. Google’s model page explicitly cautions that the model can misinterpret information or produce factually incorrect visualizations.
Is Nano Banana Pro still available in Gemini?
Google announced on February 26, 2026, that Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) would replace Pro across the Gemini app’s Fast, Thinking, and Pro modes. In that announcement, Google said AI Pro and Ultra subscribers could still access Pro for specialized tasks by regenerating images. This is the arrangement Google described at launch; app access and account conditions can change, so check the current Gemini interface and Nano Banana 2 announcement for the latest availability.
Rank #4
When Nano Banana Pro launched in November 2025, Google described access across products including the Gemini app, NotebookLM, Ads, Slides, Vids, AI Studio, Gemini API, Vertex AI, and Flow. It also described limited free-user quotas and higher quotas for paid Google AI tiers. Those were launch-era terms, not a current guarantee of access or quota.

Google’s current developer documentation lists Nano Banana 2 Lite (gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image), Nano Banana 2 (gemini-3.1-flash-image), Nano Banana Pro (gemini-3-pro-image), and the legacy Nano Banana (gemini-2.5-flash-image). Google describes Pro as its premium option for complex visual tasks, while its Nano Banana 2 announcement frames the newer model as combining Pro capabilities with Flash speed. Those are Google’s product descriptions, not independent comparative test results. The Gemini API image-generation documentation has the developer lineup; consult it for current model availability, pricing, and quotas.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Choose Pro when: the task is complex and your Google product or API access still offers it.
- Consider Nano Banana 2 when: you need the newer model available across Gemini app modes or want the speed-oriented option Google describes.
- For either model: judge the actual output, proofread text, check visual continuity, and verify factual content before relying on it.
