Shipment is the new Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer map, and it is already live. To play it, own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, install the latest game update, open Multiplayer, and select Shipment 24/7. There is no map-specific challenge, key, camo, or player-level requirement. As of November 5, 2026, the Season 1 maps are still upcoming; Backstab, Canyon, and a reimagined Shoot House are scheduled to arrive when Season 1 begins at 00:00 ET on November 6.
How do you unlock and play Shipment in MW4?
You do not unlock Shipment through a challenge or level track. It is playlist content: once you own the game and have its current update, you can queue for the map through the named Shipment 24/7 playlist.
- Own Modern Warfare 4. Multiplayer is included with the Standard Edition and Vault Edition. The Vault Edition is not required to access Shipment or any other multiplayer map.
- Update the game. Shipment arrived as part of the preseason offering on October 27, 2026. Let your platform install any available MW4 update before launching. It was not announced as a separate paid map pack.
- Open Multiplayer. From the game’s main menu, choose Multiplayer.
- Select Shipment 24/7. Choose the playlist with that name and deploy. Infinity Ward’s October 27 playlist update lists Shipment 24/7 as new.
The official materials confirm the playlist name, but do not document a screenshot-level route through the menus or say whether the playlist sits under Quick Play or a Featured tile. Look for the named playlist in Multiplayer rather than relying on an unconfirmed menu breadcrumb. Official Season 1 messaging says Shipment is “now available to play,” but does not establish whether it also appears in an ordinary Core rotation.

What is Shipment, and why is it the new map?
Shipment is a remastered 6v6 small map set at a Russian harbor. The official Steam maps briefing describes it as hemmed in by water and concrete-panel buildings, with a classic layout and appearance updated for Modern Warfare 4. Its tight footprint makes encounters frequent and leaves little time between fights.
That pace is also why Infinity Ward positioned Shipment as a way to work on early weapon ranks before Season 1. The official Season 1 briefing recommends using the map’s “relentless pace of engagements” to level weapons. That is a description of its intended use, not a published XP multiplier: no official figure is available for Shipment’s player count, average match length, or bonus XP.
The map has its own playlist, but it is not the only new multiplayer content. Infinity Ward’s October 29 patch notes also mention removing redundant enemy-location callouts on Shipment, with the joke that players already know enemies are “at the Containers.” That note reinforces the close-quarters setting, but does not imply that a special objective or map challenge is required.

Shipment’s appeal is the contrast with a larger, more varied map pool: expect a compact harbor layout where opponents can be close by quickly, not long stretches of quiet travel. That makes it a convenient place to use a weapon repeatedly while learning its handling, but it is not a guaranteed shortcut to a specific rank. The official Multiplayer page describes MW4 gunplay as “no bloom, no guesswork, no doubt. Every shot tells the truth.” Movement includes sprinting, sliding, mantling, climbing, and going prone; the broader movement system is context for the fights, not an entry requirement. Tactical Sprint is tied to the Blood Rush Perk 2 at launch.
Does Shipment require a challenge, level, or special edition?
No. The evidence points to a simple requirement: own and update the game, then queue for Shipment 24/7. No official source describes a map-specific challenge, camo, key, or player-level gate.
MW4 does have progression unlocks, but those apply to equipment and customization rather than map access. Create-a-Class and the first weapons become available at player level 4; the launch weapon Cronen Squall is listed at level 55. Those levels are independent of Shipment. You can play the map without reaching level 4, and you do not need the level-55 weapon to enter it. MW4 launched with 33 weapons and 33 Operators, but progressing through those items does not unlock the map.
Both Standard and Vault Editions include Multiplayer. The Vault Edition adds items such as operator packs, weapon blueprints, and one season of BlackCell, but none is a Shipment access pass. Standard owners can therefore play the map without paying for a Vault upgrade or a Battle Pass.
For clarity, the Vault Edition includes the digital game, the Hunter Killer Operator Skin, Hostile Alliance and Special Forces Operator Packs, and a Signature Weapon Collection of blueprints. It also includes BlackCell for one season, with Battle Pass access and up to 20 Tier Skips when the Season 1 Battle Pass becomes available, plus a DMZ Deployment Bonus. Those benefits are edition extras, not map access. Standard digital owners can upgrade on the same platform if they want them, but there is no reason to upgrade just to play Shipment.
What do you need to play MW4 Multiplayer?
You need a copy of MW4 on a supported platform and the current game installation. Official storefront materials list Xbox, Xbox PC, PlayStation, Battle.net, Steam, and Nintendo. Nintendo Switch 2 is named in the platform materials, but the available information does not confirm whether its Shipment 24/7 playlist label is identical or provide platform-specific performance details.

For PC, the cited requirements call for about 115 GB of SSD space. The listed minimum is a Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600, 8 GB RAM, and a Radeon RX 470, GTX 970/1060, or Arc A580 with 3 GB VRAM. The recommended specification is a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-8700, 16 GB RAM, and an RX 6600 XT, RTX 3060 Ti, or Arc B580 with 8 GB VRAM. The official site also requires TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on PC. These are game requirements, not separate Shipment requirements.
The researched Standard Edition price was $70, as reported by TalkEsport in 2026; storefront pricing and availability can vary by country and platform. A Standard Edition is sufficient for multiplayer map access. Do not mistake the Vault Edition’s seasonal extras for a map pack: those extras are not needed to play Shipment.

Is Shipment the same as Kill Block?
No. Shipment is the post-launch 6v6 map. Kill Block is a modular Westbridge Training Facility map that launched on day one, with changing combinations of three slabs and more than 500 possible configurations, according to the official Multiplayer page. Its launch support included 3v3 and 10v10 Gunfight.
On October 27, the playlist update added Kill Block: 6v6 Gunfight. That means a new mode and player count for the existing facility—not a newly named 6v6 map. The distinction matters if you see “New” beside Kill Block in the playlist: choose Shipment 24/7 for Shipment’s fixed, classic layout.
Some of Kill Block’s slabs draw on familiar locations such as Crash, Highrise, and Shoot House, but the facility’s setup can change from match to match. Season 1 is scheduled to add Kill Block: Crash, a static three-slab combination with Crash always in the center. That version is planned to enter Core modes, including Search and Destroy. So the choice is not just small map versus large map: Shipment is a fixed layout, while Kill Block is a modular facility, except for the Season 1 Crash combination.

MW4 launched worldwide on October 23, 2026, with 20 multiplayer maps: 12 new Core 6v6 maps, four Gunfight maps, three Ground War maps, and Kill Block. The 12 launch Core 6v6 maps are already part of the game; they are not individually unlocked through a progression track. The post-launch 6v6 addition currently in the preseason is Shipment.
The launch Core 6v6 names in official October materials are Cachette, Coal, Lithium, Lotus, Mumbai, Munition, Nautical, Reactor U92, Rooftops, Sentry, Silkworm, and Transit 213. Use those names rather than early preview aliases: official launch materials identify Reactor U92 (not “Reactor 92”) and Sentry (not “Sentinel”). The maps span settings from a French rail-terminal area and a Mexican lithium refinery to a South Korean ferry and a New York hotel rooftop, giving the Core pool a different feel from Shipment’s close-quarters harbor.
There is more variety within that Core pool than the names alone suggest. Cachette is set around a French rail terminal, with an abandoned wine warehouse and mechanic’s garage repurposed as a covert armory. Coal occupies a ruined Soviet coal plant in the mountains, while Lithium is a refinery beneath Mexico’s Sierra Mountains. Lotus is a South Korean fishing village after an amphibious assault; Mumbai centers on a dense residential district and Victorian market, with a rail line running through the blocks. These are part of the available launch rotation, not maps to earn one by one.

Other Core settings include an active North Korean command facility at Munition, a South Korean ferry pulling away from a conflict zone at dawn at Nautical, and a South Korean reactor complex in meltdown at Reactor U92. Rooftops takes place above New York’s Hotel Times West, Sentry is a Russian military base in a whiteout, Silkworm is a shopping district around a subway entrance, and Transit 213 is an overgrown bus parking lot in western India. For a different pace, those varied settings and sightlines are the alternative to Shipment’s close-range fights.
The three launch Ground War maps are Imjin Farmland, Wolves Stadium, and Forest. Ground War: Combat Outpost is a 32v32 mode built around establishing outposts and spending resources on further objectives, with vehicles and infantry. The four 2v2 Gunfight maps are Cafe, Library, NYC, and Smuggler. They are not additional 6v6 maps.
Other playlist additions can also be mistaken for maps. Inflation, Hijack, and Collateral are modes; so are returning options such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Free-For-All, Frontline, Search & Destroy, Gunfight, and Gun Game. Preseason party modes include Possession, which arrived October 29, and Infected, which arrived October 30. If the item you see is a mode name rather than a location, it is not a separate map unlock.
Possession is a Halloween moshpit mode: eliminate another player to possess them, take their loadout, and transmigrate to their location. Infected starts with one randomly selected Infected player, who uses a knife, throwing knife, and Ninja; survivors have a Rezi 12 with Enforcer Apex explosive slugs, a Trip Wire, and Concussion. These modes change the match rules rather than adding a location to the map list.
When do the next MW4 maps arrive?
As of November 5, Season 1 has not started. The official Steam briefing schedules its launch for 00:00 ET on November 6, 2026 (21:00 PT on November 5). Its launch map set is Backstab, a new snowy 6v6 town; Canyon, a new 6v6 map among sun-scorched rock walls; and a reimagined 6v6 Shoot House set in North Korea during light snowfall.

Mid-season, also described as Reloaded, is scheduled to bring Ministry, Overflow, and additional classified maps. The briefing also lists later seasonal weapons, including the JAK 12 Shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon; these are separate from map access. If your goal is to play a new 6v6 map now, Shipment is the available choice. If you are waiting for the three Season 1 launch maps, the scheduled start is November 6.
That gives you a straightforward choice: play Shipment 24/7 now for its small-map pace, or return at Season 1 for three named 6v6 additions with different settings and layouts. The Season 1 briefing also names the CSG-35 SMG and Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle for the season. New weapons and maps arrive on their own schedules; neither is a prerequisite for the other.
Do you need the New Zealand trick to play MW4?
No. Multiplayer has been live worldwide since October 23, 2026. The New Zealand region-switch advice applied to the original console launch timing and is no longer a way to gain access to Shipment. Do not change your console region or create another account just to play the map.
For historical context, console Multiplayer originally opened at midnight local time on October 23. The New Zealand midnight release corresponded to 11:00 UTC on October 22, while Steam and Battle.net used a simultaneous worldwide unlock on October 23. That launch window has passed; Call of Duty Staff announced on October 23 that the game was live worldwide. Pre-order early access was for Campaign, beginning October 16, and DMZ, beginning October 20—not Multiplayer.

In other words, early access did not provide a special Shipment route. Campaign and DMZ opened ahead of the worldwide Multiplayer launch for eligible digital pre-orders; Multiplayer itself became available worldwide on October 23. Any older instructions about switching regions were about timing the initial release, not unlocking a post-launch map.
What should you do if Shipment 24/7 is missing?
First, verify that you are in MW4 Multiplayer and that the game has installed its latest update. Then look for the specifically named Shipment 24/7 playlist. The official notes identify that playlist as the route added on October 27; they do not provide a separate challenge path or exact tile location.
Playlist names and availability can change, so a missing tile is not evidence that Shipment requires a level unlock. The information available for this guide does not establish whether the map is also included in an unmarked Quick Play rotation, whether the October 27 change required a separate data download on every platform, or whether the playlist is identically labeled on Nintendo Switch 2. Choose the existing Core rotation for more varied map sizes and sightlines; for example, Rooftops is a hotel rooftop setting, while Lithium is a refinery environment. Choose Kill Block: 6v6 Gunfight if you want the modular facility’s Gunfight format, not Shipment.
